The purpose of this work was to study the mechanistic pathways of degradation of polysorbates (PS) 20 and PS80 in parenteral formulations. The fate of PS in typical protein formulations was monitored and analyzed by a variety of methods, including (1)H NMR, high-performance liquid chromatography/evaporative light scattering detection, and ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Oxidative degradation of PS in neat raw material was studied using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and headspace gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFWe assessed the accuracy of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and lymphocyte counts to predict a mechanical complication (MC) after myocardial infarction (MI). Within 10 years, we identified 36 patients with 39 echocardiographically confirmed MC within 30 days of MI: ventricular septal defect (17 cases), papillary muscle rupture (10 cases), and left ventricular free wall rupture (12 cases). They were compared to 41 controls with an uncomplicated hospital course after MI.
