Introduction: Many psychiatric illnesses have been linked to the gut microbiome, with supplements such as probiotics showing some efficacy in alleviating the symptoms of some psychiatric illnesses. The aim of this review is to evaluate the current literature investigating the effects of adjuvant probiotic or synbiotic administration in combination with first-line treatments for psychiatric illnesses.
Method: A systematic search of four databases was conducted using key terms related to treatments for psychiatric illnesses, the gut microbiome, and probiotics.
To compare the number of surge events and efficacy of phacoemulsification using a near-physiological intraocular pressure (IOP) setting and a standard IOP setting. The surgical data of patients who underwent phacoemulsification with IOL implantation using the CENTURION Vision System's Active Fluidics setting and Active Sentry Handpiece (Alcon Laboratories, USA) were analyzed. The study included 181 patients (204 eyes).

Methods: Between 1982 and 1994, 80 elephant trunks were implanted in 72 patients.
Ischemic damage to vital organs supplied by the thoracoabdominal aorta greatly increases the overall risk of aortic dissection. Of 320 patients operated upon for aortic dissection since 1985, 33 (10.3%) underwent operations directed at the relief of malperfusion (15/158 acute type A; 9/18 acute type B; 4/78 chronic type A; 5/66 chronic type B).
