Classification of gene trees is an important task both in the analysis of multi-locus phylogenetic data, and assessment of the convergence of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) analyses used in Bayesian phylogenetic tree reconstruction. The logistic regression model is one of the most popular classification models in statistical learning, thanks to its computational speed and interpretability. However, it is not appropriate to directly apply the standard logistic regression model to a set of phylogenetic trees, as the space of phylogenetic trees is non-Euclidean and thus contradicts the standard assumptions on covariates.

Background/aim: Acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease are major causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Genetic studies have determined that the immune response in rheumatic heart disease is genetically controlled and that there is a close relationship between the gene of concern and the class II human leukocyte antigen (HLA) gene. Objective: Ghrelin exerts protective effects on cardiovascular system by inhibiting progression of atherosclerosis, supression of vascular inflammation, and stimulating angiogenesis. Thus, the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of serum ghrelin on coronary collateral development and SYNTAX score in patients with severe coronary artery disease.

Objective: We aimed to compare lateral and midline epidural anaesthesia using a levobupivacaine-fentanyl combination in patients undergoing unilateral lower extremity operation for anaesthetic effects and postoperative complications.

Methods: The study included 40 American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) I-II group patients. At the L4-5 space, an epidural catheter was placed in patients in Group 1 by directing the tip of the needle at a 45-degree angle to the operation side and in Group 2 with the needle tip in the cephalad direction.
