Purpose: An adverse influence of pregnancy on the risk of death in women with cutaneous melanoma was suggested historically by anecdotal reports. Previous studies included small numbers of women observed for short periods.
Methods: Using data from the Swedish National and Regional Registries, we performed a retrospective cohort study of all Swedish women who were diagnosed with cutaneous melanoma during their reproductive period, from January 1, 1958, to December 31, 1999.

Purpose: Anal pathology occurs in 20 to 80 percent of patients with Crohn's disease in which abscesses, fistulas, and fissures account for considerable morbidity. The etiology is not clearly defined, but altered anorectal pressures may play a role. This study was designed to investigate anorectal physiologic conditions in patients with Crohn's disease compared with healthy controls.

In 87% of the cases, original tumor tissue was available for histo-pathological review. The original diagnosis was verified in 88% (n = 126) of these cases.

One-hundred-and-fifty-four (87%) were re-examined histologically, and the original diagnosis of primary cutaneous malignant melanoma was verified in 88%. The age-specific mean annual incidence rate increased to 0.

Immunohistochemical staining with inhibin, CK-7, and epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) was performed on 6 endometrioid carcinomas simulating sex cord-stromal tumors, 5 typical endometrioid carcinomas, 14 adult granulosa cell tumors (AGCTs), 3 Sertoli-Leydig cell tumors (SCLTs), and 1 sex cord tumor with annular tubules (SCTAT). All AGCTs and SLCTs as well as the SCTAT were inhibin-positive.
