Fetal Scoliosis: Natural History and Outcomes.

Introduction: Scoliosis can be detected on prenatal ultrasonography and may be associated with structural and syndromic abnormalities. Associations and pregnancy outcomes related to the prenatal diagnosis of scoliosis are poorly understood.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was undertaken at a tertiary referral center in London.

Chemotherapy May Obviate Prophylactic Femoral Nail Surgery for Multiple Myeloma Patients With High Mirels' Score Lesions and Impending Pathological Hip Fracture.

Bone involvement presents in >80% of patients with multiple myeloma. This causes lytic lesions for which prophylactic surgery is indicated to prevent pathological fractures if the lesion is graded ≥9/12 on Mirels' score. Although successful, these surgeries have risks and extended recovery periods.

Percutaneous Achilles tenotomy under local anaesthetic in the clubfoot clinic was safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, for both children and parents.

Purpose: An Achilles tenotomy is routinely required to correct the equinus deformity in Congenital talipes equinovarus (CTEV) patients as part of the gold standard treatment using the Ponseti method. This procedure can be performed in clinic under local anaesthetic or in theatre under general anaesthetic. The COVID-19 pandemic reduced theatre capacity and caused a delay to CTEV patients' treatment.

Day-case open reduction for developmental dysplasia of the hip.

Aims: Open reduction in developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is regularly performed despite screening programmes, due to failure of treatment or late presentation. A protocol for open reduction of DDH has been refined through collaboration between surgical, anaesthetic, and nursing teams to allow same day discharge. The objective of this study was to determine the safety and feasibility of performing open reduction of DDH as a day case.
