Pedal Presentation of Superficial Acral Fibromyxoma.

Superficial acral fibromyxoma is a benign and slow-growing solitary soft-tissue neoplasm. Since being described in 2001, more than 100 cases of superficial acral fibromyxoma on the foot have been reported worldwide, none of which have been reported in the podiatric medical literature. Only nine cases of superficial acral fibromyxoma have been reported with presentation on the plantar heel.

Ciliary Defects in a Mouse Model of Bardet-Biedl Syndrome are Selectively Pronounced in Brian Regions Involved in Cardiovascular Regulation.

Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) is a human genetic disorder associated with several phenotypes including hypertension. Here we used the hypertensive Bbs4 knockout mouse model (Bbs4-/-) to test the hypothesis that areas of the brain involved in cardiovascular regulation (CVR) exhibit abnormalities in primary neuronal cilia (PNC) structure and density. We utilized immunocytochemical localization of adenylyl cyclase-III (ACIII), a specific marker for PNC, to identify the changes in PNC length and density in commissural nucleus of solitary tract (cNTS), area postrema (AP), rostroventrolateral medulla (RVLM) and subfornical organ (SFO).

Fibrolipomatous hamartoma of nerve in the great toe.

Fibrolipomatous hamartoma is a rare benign tumor characterized by infiltration of fibrous and adipose tissue found within the epineurium and perineurium of the distal peripheral nerves. Most commonly seen in the upper extremities and median nerve, it is rarely involved in the foot and ankle. We report a rare case of fibrolipomatous hamartoma found in the great toe of a 25-year-old patient.

Chondromyxoid fibroma of the calcaneus: two case reports and literature review.

Chondromyxoid fibroma occurs primarily in the long tubular bones of the lower extremity, with the foot representing the second most frequent location after the knee. This benign cartilaginous tumor of bone is currently the rarest reported neoplasm of cartilaginous origin. This mass can mimic other benign and malignant bone tumors owing to its variable histologic features.
