Objectives: Frailty is a well-known complication of chronic liver disease and has been recognized as a poor prognostic factor in cirrhotic patients being associated with increased morbidity and mortality. There is limited available pediatric literature in this regard. The current study aimed to estimate the prevalence of frailty and analyze the predictive factors and their association with long-term outcomes in children with liver disease.

Objective: Artificial intelligence (AI) has been increasingly utilized in diagnosis of skeletal deformities, while its role in treatment planning and outcome prediction of jaw corrective surgeries with 3-dimensional (3D) imaging remains underexplored.

Methods: The comprehensive search was done in PubMed, Google scholar, Semantic scholar and Cochrane Library between January 2000 and May 2024. Inclusion criteria encompassed studies on AI applications in treatment planning and outcome prediction for jaw corrective surgeries using 3D imaging.

Purpose: Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a prevalent and distressing complication, especially in laparoscopic surgeries. This review compares the efficacy and safety of palonosetron and ondansetron in preventing PONV after laparoscopic surgery.

Methods: A systematic review was conducted in PubMed, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, and Cochrane Library to identify comparative studies that reported the efficacy (nausea and vomiting) at three postoperative time points T1 (0-2 hours), T2 (2-6 hours), T3 (6-24 hours) and safety (incidence of adverse effects).

Article Synopsis
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa is highly resistant to antibiotics due to intrinsic and acquired mechanisms, primarily utilizing Pseudomonas-derived cephalosporinase (PDC) and serine Ambler class C β-lactamases through the AmpC gene system.
  • * A study analyzed 111 P. aeruginosa isolates from India, identifying the ESAC allele PDC-447 as the most prevalent variant, particularly among carbapenem-resistant strains, while also noting other significant variants like PDC-398 and PDC-397.
  • * Genetic mutations in the PDC enzyme, such as T105A in the H-helix region, were linked to increased antibiotic resistance, emphasizing the complexity of resistance mechanisms and

This experimental study reports the thermodynamic influence of three different amino acids on methane hydrate in oil-dominated systems, namely, glycine, proline, and alanine. To thoroughly examine the effect of selected amino acids on methane (CH) hydrate formation compared to the commercial inhibitor monoethylene glycol (MEG) in the presence of oil, the hydrate liquid-vapor equilibrium (H-Lw-Lo-V) curve is used to measure amino acid aqueous solutions. All experiments are performed at a concentration of 10 wt % by using the isochoric T-cycle technique in a high-pressure reactor cell at the selected range of pressures with temperatures of 4.
