Assessment of toxicity and oxidative stress induced by rare earth oxide nanoparticles in brine shrimp (Artemia salina).

This study meticulously explored the oxidative stress effects induced by lanthanum (III) oxide (LaO), erbium (III) oxide (ErO), and yttrium (III) oxide (YO) nanoparticles on Artemia salina, with the objective of evaluating the environmental toxicity of rare earth oxide nanoparticles. The characterization of the nanoparticles was conducted using a suite of advanced techniques, including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and zeta potential analysis. Artemia salina, a widely recognized model organism in ecotoxicological research, was exposed to these nanoparticles under meticulously controlled laboratory conditions.

Late presentation of Bochdalek hernia in children - experience at a single centre.

Background: The aim of this study was to present our experience with late presentation Bochdalek hernia (BH), focussing on clinical presentation diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and their outcomes.

Methods: Patients with late presenting BH 1 month of age between 1983 and 2022 were studied. We retrospectively collected and analysed the following data: age, sex, side of herniation, presenting symptoms and signs, associated anomalies, radiographic findings, intraoperative findings, postoperative course, complications, and mortality.

: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical presentation, treatment outcomes, and complications associated with hepatic hydatid cysts in a pediatric population. : This retrospective study analyzed 214 pediatric patients with liver hydatid cysts, focusing on clinical presentation, treatment outcomes, and associated complications. Patients were classified based on treatment modality, including non-operative management with albendazole, PAIR, and surgical intervention.

Examining Social Anxiety Symptoms with Early Maladaptive Schemas: The Mediating Role of Mindfulness and Self-Compassion.

Objective: This study aims to determine early maladaptive schema domains that significantly predict social anxiety symptoms in university students and to examine whether mindfulness and self-compassion play mediating roles in the correlation of these schema domains with social anxiety symptoms.

Method: 440 students from various departments of universities participated in the study. Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale, Young Schema QuestionnaireShort Form 3, Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire, and Self-Compassion Scale were used to evaluate social anxiety, early maladaptive schema domains, mindfulness, and self-compassion, respectively.
