Patient preferences for the provision of NHS medicines helpline services: a discrete choice experiment.

Introduction: Patient medicines helpline services (PMHS) can reduce harm and improve medicines adherence and patient satisfaction after hospital discharge. There is little evidence of which PMHS attributes are most important to patients. This would enable PMHS providers to prioritise their limited resources to maximise patient benefit.

Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter 2 Inhibitors and the Risk of Genitourinary Infections at HbA1c ≥10%: A Population Health-Based Retrospective Review.

Background: Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are first-line treatment for type 2 diabetes. Evidence has shown a 3- to 5-fold increase in the risk of genitourinary infections with their use due to inhibition of renal glucose reabsorption, resulting in glucosuria. Increased glucosuria is thought to increase the risk of genitourinary infections at a greater degree in patients with a significantly elevated HbA1c (≥10%), and initiation of SGLT2i is often delayed in these patients.

Maternal depression, psychosocial stress and race/ethnicity: examining barriers to breastfeeding for young mothers.

Background: Breastfeeding has a positive impact on child and maternal health outcomes. Black and Latina women and adolescent mothers have lower rates of breastfeeding initiation and continuance in the U.S.

Coevolution of Age-Structured Tolerance and Virulence.

Hosts can evolve a variety of defences against parasitism, including resistance (which prevents or reduces the spread of infection) and tolerance (which protects against virulence). Some organisms have evolved different levels of tolerance at different life-stages, which is likely to be the result of coevolution with pathogens, and yet it is currently unclear how coevolution drives patterns of age-specific tolerance. Here, we use a model of tolerance-virulence coevolution to investigate how age structure influences coevolutionary dynamics.
