Reproductive Performance of Tunisian Arabian Stallions: A Study on the Variance and Estimation of Heritability.

A consistently high level of stallion fertility plays an economically important role in modern horse breeding. To better understand the factors affecting variation in stallion fertility, we have performed a statistical analysis study on some breeding factors: year of breeding, stud farm, age of the stallion, number of covered mares per stallion, reproduction methods, and age of the mare. This work was conducted on 94 purebred Arabian stallions in four different regions of Tunisia.

Atomic structure and Mott nature of the insulating charge density wave phase of 1T-TaS.

Using x-ray pair distribution function (PDF) analysis and computer modeling, we explore structure models for the complex charge density wave (CDW) phases of layered 1T-TaSthat both well capture their atomic-level features and are amenable to electronic structure calculations. The models give the most probable position of constituent atoms in terms of 3D repetitive unit cells comprising a minimum number of Ta-S layers. Structure modeling results confirm the emergence of star-of-David (SD) like clusters of Ta atoms in the high-temperature incommensurate (IC) CDW phase and show that, contrary to the suggestions of recent studies, the low-temperature commensurate (C) CDW phase expands upon cooling thus reducing lattice strain.

Utility of p63 and PTEN staining in distinguishing cervical microglandular hyperplasia from endometrial endometrioid carcinoma with microglandular/mucinous features.

Aims: Distinction between well-differentiated endometrial carcinoma (EMCA) with microglandular/mucinous features and benign endocervical microglandular hyperplasia (MGH) can be a diagnostic challenge, especially when tissue is limited. The immunostains used to distinguish endocervical and endometrial carcinoma are less useful when the differential diagnosis is MGH. Here, we investigate the utility of p63 and phosphatase and tensin homologue (PTEN) to aid accurate classification.

Pyocolpos: A rare cause of recurrent abdominal pain - Always insist on a thorough physical examination.

Thorough physical examination is a must for proper diagnosis of medical diseases and to elucidate all physical findings. Abdominal pain is a very common presentation to Emergency Department, compromising 5%-10% of all visits, and around a quarter are discharged with no particular diagnosis. Pyocolpos is one of those presentations that requires a thorough physical examination, including that of the external genitalia.
