Article Synopsis
  • Researchers wanted to find out if heart problems can help predict how people with Anorexia Nervosa (AN) will do over time.
  • They studied 35 patients with AN and 42 healthy people, looking at their body weight, heart health, and mental health related to eating.
  • The results suggested that heart health could indicate future problems, and measuring body composition is important for tracking recovery in those with AN.

Article Synopsis
  • - This study assessed if sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i) can protect against contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) in heart failure patients undergoing procedures using iodinated contrast.
  • - Researchers divided participants into those using SGLT2-i and those not, measuring the occurrence of CI-AKI, overall mortality, and the need for renal therapy during hospitalization.
  • - Results showed lower CI-AKI rates in SGLT2-i users (9.3%) compared to non-users (27.3%), and the SGLT2-i group had no need for continuous renal replacement therapy, suggesting that SGLT2-i therapy offers a protective benefit in this context. *

We examined the pattern of access to hospital emergency room (hER) in 2018-2021 among patients with eating disorders (ED) from Florence, Italy, diagnosed during 1994-2018, using a matched cohort design. We included 902 ED patients and an equal number of sex-, age-, and residence-matched individuals. We fitted conditional Poisson regression models with robust variance estimator to estimate incidence rate ratios (IRR) and 95% confidence intervals.
