In this study, we present a novel approach for synthesising a merocyanine (MC) compound that integrates gallol and a near-infrared (NIR) fluorophore using a straightforward method. We conduct a comprehensive structural analysis to elucidate the specific roles of each functional group during monomer synthesis and their effects on the properties of both the spiropyran (SP) and MC forms, particularly their fluorescence. As a proof of concept, we explore the use of these compounds in formulating innovative fluorescent polymeric coatings by melanising catechol and gallol moieties on various substrates, including glass, a cupronickel coin, and an organic polymer.

We demonstrate that the interaction energy for these dispersion forces is correlated to the number of H atoms in OSDAs, irrespective of the structures of OSDAs or FWs, and of variations in charges and thermal motions. All calculations considered-DFT-D3 and BOMD undertaken by us, and molecular mechanics from an accessible database-led to the same trend.

This preliminary trial, performed in 10 three-week-old male Holstein-Friesian calves, investigated the effects of GHB administered intravenously over 5 min at a dose of 100 (G100, n=2), 150 (G150, n=4) or 200 mg/kg (G200, n=4). Once lateral recumbency was achieved, scores for sedation depth (range: 0 = no sedation to 3 = marked) and response to noxious stimulation (range: 0 = strong to 3 = absent), heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (RR), mean arterial pressure (MAP) and arterial blood gases were monitored every 15 min until sternal recumbency.

In order to offer keys and recommendations, and based on situated knowledge, we provide insights on how to approach the intervention framework from a methodological point of view using liminal spaces as border and transition places that need to be named and taken into consideration for a transformative work. Different metaphorical borders, characterized by tension and potential change, are analyzed from a gender and intersectional perspective.
