Clinical validation of an elastin-derived trifunctional peptide for skin regeneration.

Unlabelled: Aging is associated with progressive skin fragility, characterized in part by extracellular matrix (ECM) fragmentation. This degradation produces matrikines which have an impact on ECM rremodeling. Our group previously designed and characterized a trifunctional peptide (TFP), constituted of i) an elastokine motif (VGVAPG), able to increase the expression of matrix constituent through the stimulation of the elastin-binding protein receptor, ii) a tripeptide inhibiting matrix metalloproteinase-1 activity (GIL), and iii) a linker domain acting as a competitive substrate for urokinase (RVRL).

Reduction of skin closure time without loss of healing quality: a multicenter prospective study in 100 patients comparing the use of Insorb absorbable staples with absorbable thread for dermal suture.

The authors report the results of a multicenter prospective study evaluating a novel technology: dermal suture using absorbable staples composed of polylactic and polyglycolic acids. From January to June 2009, 59 dermal sutures were performed with Insorb absorbable staples and 41 with absorbable thread. All patients in the study underwent abdominal dermolipectomy (N = 65) or surgery for breast hypertrophy (N = 35).

[Myanmar mission].

The authors report the accomplishment of humanitarian missions in plastic surgery performed by a small team in town practice in Yangon, about their 3 years experience in Myanmar with 300 consultations and 120 surgery cases. They underline the interest of this type of mission and provide us their reflexion about team training, the type of relation with the country where the mission is conducted and the type of right team.

[Compression of the deep motor branch of the ulnar nerve by a synovial cyst. A case report].

The authors report a case of compression of the deep palmar branch of the ulnar nerve beyond the piso-uniform arch by a ganglion cyst. A review of the literature finds this pattern as uncommon.
