IgE-mediated stimulation of monocytes regulates multiple cellular functions including cellular maturation, cytokine release, antiviral responses, and T-cell differentiation. Expression of the high-affinity IgE receptor, FcεRI, is closely linked to serum IgE levels and atopic disease. The signaling molecules regulating FcεRI effector functions have been well studied in mast cells and basophils; however, less is known about the signaling and regulatory mechanisms in monocytes.

Objective: The aim of this study was to improve the health literacy and numeracy skills of unschooled women in Northern Pakistan by developing a Maternal and Child Health Calendar (MCHC). The MCHC utilizes locally contextualized icons to promote and enhance service utilization and maternal and child health (MCH) outcomes.
The yellow fever mosquito Aedes aegypti uses multiple sensory systems to identify a blood-meal victim. Recent work by Chandel et al. identifies infrared radiation as a medium-distance cue acting through TrpA1 and two opsins to help target hosts, furthering our understanding of the multisensory hunting strategy used by mosquitoes on the prowl.

Single indium donors are isolated in a commercial ZnO substrate using plasma focused ion beam (PFIB) milling. Quantum emitters are identified optically by spatial and frequency filtering.

Insects and spiders play critical roles in ecosystems by accumulating and synthesizing organic nutrients such as polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). However, links between biodiversity and nutrient content of insect and spider communities have yet to be quantified.
