The circadian clock regulates physiological and biochemical processes in nearly every species. Sexual and reproductive behaviors are two processes controlled by the circadian timing system. Evidence supporting the importance of proper clock function on fertility comes from several lines of work demonstrating that misalignment of biological rhythms or disrupted function of the body's master clock, such as occurs from repeated shift work or chronic jet lag, negatively impacts reproduction by interfering with both male and female fertility.

Background: Hyperkalemia, generally defined as serum potassium levels greater than 5.0 mEq/L, poses significant clinical risks, including cardiac toxicity and muscle weakness. Its prevalence and severity increase in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), diabetes mellitus, and heart failure (HF), particularly when compounded by medications like Angiotensin converting inhibitors, Angiotensin receptor blockers, and potassium sparing diuretics.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of polydopamine (PDA) functionalization on orthodontic brackets in inhibiting biofilm formation and promoting surface bioactivity to buffer the acidity of caries-causing bacteria around orthodontic brackets and prevent demineralization. The stability of the coating in artificial saliva (AS) and distilled water was evaluated, along with its effect on pH changes in simulated body fluid (SBF) and distilled water.

Methods: Maxillary incisor orthodontic brackets underwent PDA functionalization using a dopamine hydrochloride solution following a specific protocol.
