Ex-vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) has emerged as a transformative technique in lung transplantation, offering a solution for evaluating and rehabilitating donor lungs that would otherwise be deemed unsuitable. This review article examines the significant advancements in EVLP technology and its application in clinical practice. We discuss the criteria for selection and rehabilitation of donor lungs, emphasizing the use of EVLP for lungs with compromised function due to factors like prolonged ischemic time and donor smoking history.

Our objective was to develop a prediction model for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection perinatal transmission to improve triage for neonatal follow-up. This was a secondary analysis of HCV antibody-positive participants who were enrolled in the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network multicenter observational study of HCV infection in pregnancy. Among 432 participants, the perinatal transmission rate was 6.

Background: To better elucidate the impact of the SARS-COV pandemic on neonatal outcomes, we compared the health outcomes of infants born preterm requiring care in a Canadian NICU before and during the SARS-COV pandemic.

Methods: Using a retrospective cohort study, infants born between 23 and 32 weeks gestation who were admitted to tertiary Canadian NICUs before and during the pandemic were included. A total of 7280 infants were in the pre-pandemic cohort (admitted 1 April 2018-31 December 2019), and 7088 infants were in the pandemic cohort (admitted 1 April 2020-31 December 2021).

Background: Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a vector-borne disease caused by Leishmania parasites and transmitted by sand fly bites, targeted for elimination in India. VL primarily affects rural, low-income populations with limited health care access. In South Asia, few studies have explored patients' perspectives, diagnoses, and treatment experiences; particularly lacking an understanding about the patients' life experiences outside of clinical research settings.

Background: Individuals with PWS need constant support and/or supervision, which creates a high caregiver burden on their parents and siblings. Previous research has identified adverse stress outcomes in relatively small and country-specific samples. This study's aims were to examine stress outcomes in a large multi-country sample of parents and siblings and to expand upon previous research by incorporating data on psychosocial factors that may mitigate stress outcomes.
