We study the two-dimensional (2D) Ising model in a complex magnetic field in the vicinity of the Yang-Lee edge singularity. By using Baxter's variational corner transfer matrix method combined with analytic techniques, we numerically calculate the scaling function and obtain an accurate estimate of the location of the Yang-Lee singularity. The existing series expansions for susceptibility of the 2D Ising model on a triangular lattice by Chan, Guttmann, Nickel, and Perk allowed us to substantially enhance the accuracy of our calculations.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) secondary to perinatal asphyxia occurs when the brain does not receive enough oxygen and blood. A surrogate marker for "intact survival" is necessary for the successful management of HIE. The severity of HIE can be classified based on clinical presentation, including the presence of seizures, using a clinical classification scale called Sarnat staging; however, Sarnat staging is subjective, and the score changes over time.

High ambient temperatures pose serious productive challenges to poultry farmers in the tropics with adverse consequences such as reduced egg production. A study was undertaken to assess the effect of naked neck (Na) and frizzle (F) genes on the performance of F and F generations of crosses of commercial and indigenous chickens in Ghana. One thousand, five hundred and sixty-five (1,565) eggs distributed in a randomized complete block design comprising 4 genotypes and 15 hatches were used for the first study.

Genetic improvement in commercial broilers worldwide is heavily focused on selection for higher final body weight at a given age. Although commercial broilers are mostly sold by their final body weight, it is important to carefully consider how this weight is attained and at what cost. The cost of feeding broilers, which constitutes about 70% of the total cost of broiler production, varies considerably at different stages of the bird.

Objectives: To present a comprehensive real-world micro-costing analysis of bariatric surgery.

Methods: Patients were included if they underwent primary bariatric surgery (gastric banding [GB], gastric bypass [GBP] and sleeve gastrectomy [SG]) between 2013 and 2019. Costs were disaggregated into cost items and average-per-patient costs from the Australian healthcare systems perspective were expressed in constant 2019 Australian dollars for the entire cohort and subgroup analysis.
