Introduction: Periprosthetic joint infections (PJIs) of the shoulder complicate approximately 0.7% of primary and 15.4% of revision shoulder arthroplasties.

The biologic activities of antibody drugs are dictated by structure-function relationships-emerging from the kind, composition, and degree of interactions with a target antigen and with soluble and cellular antibody receptors of the innate immune system. These activities are canonically understood to be both modular: antigen recognition is driven by the heterodimeric antigen-binding fragment, and innate immune recruitment by the homodimeric constant/crystallizable fragment. The model that treats these domains with a high degree of independence has served the field well but is not without limitations.

Health-Related Social Needs Following Onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Oregon.

Purpose: Efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the health-related social needs (HRSN) of Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries, such as food and housing, were insufficient. We examined HRSN data from the Accountable Health Communities study collected in Oregon to understand changes in these needs at the onset and during the first 2 years of the pandemic.

Methods: We conducted an interrupted time series analysis with data from 21,522 Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries screened for overall HRSN between May 13, 2019 and December 24, 2021.

Identification of Risk Factors Associated with Early Discontinuation of Physical Therapy Following Shoulder Surgery.

Background: Postoperative physical therapy (POPT) is a critical aspect of patient recovery following orthopedic shoulder surgery. Despite the importance of POPT, some patients do not complete their course of physical therapy, which can affect postoperative recovery and outcomes. This study aimed to identify risk factors that influence patient adherence and attendance of POPT.

Occupational and Hobby Exposures Associated With Myositis Phenotypes in a National Myositis Patient Registry.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate occupational and hobby exposures to silica, solvents, and heavy metals and the odds of having the idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) phenotypes dermatomyositis (DM) and polymyositis (PM) versus inclusion body myositis (IBM), lung disease plus fever or arthritis (LD+), and systemic autoimmune rheumatic disease-associated overlap myositis (OM).

Methods: The sample included 1,390 patients (598 with DM, 409 with PM, and 383 with IBM) aged ≥18 years from a national registry. Of these, 218 (16%) were identified with LD+, and 166 (12%) with OM.
