Progesterone receptors (PR) can regulate transcription by RNA Polymerase III (Pol III), which transcribes small non-coding RNAs, including all transfer RNAs (tRNAs). We have previously demonstrated that PR is associated with the Pol III complex at tRNA genes and that progestins downregulate tRNA transcripts in breast tumor models. To further elucidate the mechanism of PR-mediated regulation of Pol III, we studied the interplay between PR, the Pol III repressor Maf1, and TFIIIB, a core transcription component.

Materials And Methods: Using BT-549, Hs578T and MCF-7 breast cancer cell lines, antiproliferative IC's of eribulin, five other microtubule targeting agents (MTAs; ER-076349, vinblastine, vinorelbine, paclitaxel, docetaxel) and three DNA damaging agents (DDAs; doxorubicin, cisplatin, oxaliplatin) were determined.
Results: Treatment of cells with 10×IC concentrations of all drugs in serum-free media resulted in time-dependent induction of cytotoxicity over DMSO controls.
Background: Baseball pitching injuries can be related to fatigue. Changes in grip and pinch strength over the course of professional baseball games are unknown.
Hypothesis: Grip and pinch strength will decrease as the number of innings pitched increases; injured pitchers will have a lower grip strength than uninjured pitchers.
Purpose: The immunosuppressive function of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) has been implicated in the regulation of immune responses against cancer and is associated with poor prognosis. Radiation treatment is known to alter immune cell populations within the tumor; however, whether this results in the recruitment of immunosuppressive MDSC populations is not well understood. Here we evaluate the response of circulating MDSC populations in patients treated per standard-of-care cisplatin chemoradiation therapy (CRT) for locally invasive cervical cancer.
