Background: The fastest-growing neurological disorder is Parkinson disease (PD), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects 10 million people worldwide. PD is typically treated with levodopa, an oral pill taken to increase dopamine levels, and other dopaminergic agonists. As the disease advances, the efficacy of the drug diminishes, necessitating adjustments in treatment dosage according to the patient's symptoms and disease progression.

Here we present the development of the Mentoring in Undergraduate Research Survey (MURS) as a measure of a range of mentoring experienced by undergraduate science researchers. We drafted items based on qualitative research and refined the items through cognitive interviews and expert sorting. We used one national dataset to evaluate the internal structure of the measure and a second national dataset to examine how responses on the MURS related to theoretically relevant constructs and student characteristics.

To characterize kidney replacement therapy (KRT) and pediatric extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) outcomes and to identify the optimal timing of KRT initiation during ECMO associated with increased survival. Observational retrospective cohort study using the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization Registry database in children (0-18 yo) on ECMO from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2020. Of the 14,318 ECMO runs analyzed, 26% of patients received KRT during ECMO.

Regression is a key feature of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, Fragile X syndrome, and Rett syndrome (RTT). RTT is caused by mutations in the X-linked gene methyl-CpG-binding protein 2 (). It is characterized by an early period of typical development with subsequent regression of previously acquired motor and speech skills in girls.
