A 19-year-old female presented with intermittent claudication without anatomical abnormality in the popliteal fossa on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. However, duplex ultrasound (DUS) showed compression of the popliteal artery (PA) and vein during plantarflexion and dorsiflexion. She was diagnosed with functional PA entrapment syndrome (PAES) and underwent resection of the plantaris and gastrocnemius muscles using DUS with stress maneuvers, which relieved the symptoms.

Manipulation and analysis methods for large DNAs are critical for epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic, and fundamental research on bacteria, membrane vesicles, plants, yeast, and human cells. However, the physical properties of large DNAs often challenge their manipulation and analysis with high accuracy and speed using the conventional methods such as gel electrophoresis and column-based methods. This review presents the approaches that leverage micrometer- and nanometer-sized gaps within microchannels to control the dynamics and conformations of large DNAs, thereby overcoming these challenges.

In CBA/J and C3H/HeJ mice, retinitis pigmentosa is inherited as an autosomal-recessive trait due to a mutation in Pde6b, which encodes cGMP phosphodiesterase subunit b. In these strains, the Y347X mutation in Pde6b leads to the upregulation of cGMP levels, increased Ca influx induces rod death, and the outer segment and rod cells entirely disappeared by 35 days after birth.
