Primary joint replacements are performed increasingly often worldwide, driven by an aging population, improvement in surgical techniques, and advancements in implant designs. While more attention has traditionally been focused on weight-bearing joints such as the hip and knee, shoulder replacement surgeries have gained increasing attention in recent years due to the population's demand for a better quality of life. Thus far, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of shoulder arthroplasty-related publications using the Scopus database has not yet been conducted.

Mechanical energy is the most ubiquitous form of energy that can be harvested and converted into useful electrical power. For this reason, the piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEHs), with their inherent electromechanical coupling and high-power density, have been widely incorporated in many applications to generate power from ambient mechanical vibrations. However, one of the main challenges to the wider adoption of PEHs is how to optimize their design for maximum energy harvesting.

Piezoelectric (PZT) shunt damping is an effective method to dissipate energy from a vibrating structure; however, most of the applications focus on targeting specific modes for structures vibrating at low-frequency range, i.e. deterministic substructure (DS).
