Potentiostatic and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements were recorded to study the nucleation and growth mechanisms of electrodeposited CuNiSnS (CNTS) thin films from aqueous solution at different applied potentials. The electrodeposition process of Cu-Ni-Sn-S precursors were studied using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. The nucleation and growth mechanism of these films was found to follow a three-dimensional progressive nucleation limited by diffusion-controlled growth.

Impact of Lipid-lowering Therapy on Cancer Risk: A Narrative Review.

Purpose: There are inconsistent reports of an association between low cholesterol, use of lipid-lowering agents, and carcinogenesis. The purpose of this paper was to examine the relationship between cancer, lipids, statin use, and use of other lipid-lowering therapies.

Methods: This comprehensive literature review incorporated article searches in electronic databases (Embase, PubMed, OVID) and reference lists of relevant articles, with the authors' expertise in lipidology.

Implementing HLA-B*58:01 testing prior to allopurinol initiation in Malaysian primary care setting: A qualitative study from doctors' and patients' perspective.

Introduction: Allopurinol, the first-line treatment for chronic gout, is a common causative drug for severe cutaneous adverse reactions (SCAR). HLA-B*58:01 allele was strongly associated with allopurinol-induced SCAR in Asian countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia. HLA-B*58:01 screening before allopurinol initiation is conditionally recommended in the Southeast-Asian population, but the uptake of this screening is slow in primary care settings, including Malaysia.

A district-level emission inventory of anthropogenic PM from the primary sources over the Indian Indo Gangetic Plain: Identification of the emission hotspots.

A district-wise emission inventory was made for the states and union territories (UTs) of the Indian Indo-Gangetic Plain for the base year of 2018 to estimate the emissions of PM from various sectors. In addition to conventional sectors, emissions from road dust, fossil-fuelled irrigation pumps, and construction dust were also taken into account. Total primary anthropogenic PM emission was estimated to be 3157.

Objective: In this study, we evaluate small and large nerve fibre pathology in relation to diabetic foot ulceration (DFU) and incident cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events in type 1 diabetes (T1D).

Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted on people with T1D without diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) ( = 25), T1D with DPN ( = 28), T1D with DFU ( = 25) and 32 healthy volunteers. ROC analysis of parameters was conducted to diagnose DPN and DFU, and multivariate Cox regression analysis was performed to evaluate the predictive ability of corneal nerves for cardiac and cerebrovascular events over 3 years.

We aimed to develop an artificial intelligence deep learning algorithm to classify the presence or absence of peripheral neuropathy (PN) in participants with diabetes or pre-diabetes using corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) images of the sub-basal nerve plexus. A modified ResNet-50 model was trained to perform the binary classification of PN (PN+) versus no PN (PN-) based on the Toronto consensus criteria.

The study is undertaken to examine international trade and tourism nexus in case of India and SAARC countries. To achieve the objective, panel cointegration is employed over the period of 22 years (1997 to 2018). The results from both first and second generation cointegration tests indicated the existence of long run equilibrium among tourism, export, and import.

Objective: Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) has revealed that glycemic variability and low time in range are associated with albuminuria and retinopathy. We have investigated the relationship between glucose metrics derived from CGM and a highly sensitive measure of neuropathy using corneal confocal microscopy in participants with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

Methods: A total of 40 participants with diabetes and 28 healthy controls underwent quantification of corneal nerve fiber density (CNFD), corneal nerve branch density (CNBD), corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL) and inferior whorl length (IWL) and those with diabetes underwent CGM for four consecutive days.

Statins, or 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, are the mainstay of treatment for hypercholesterolemia as they effectively reduce LDL-C levels and risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Apart from hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and HDL dysfunction are known risk factors for neuropathy in people with obesity and diabetes. Although there are case reports of statin-induced neuropathy, ad hoc analyses of clinical trials and observational studies have shown that statins may improve peripheral neuropathy.
