Aim And Objectives: To assess the influence of elevated uric acid >5 mg/dl on pregnancy outcomes such as neonatal weight, respiratory distress, preterm delivery, neonatal intensive care unit admission, premature membrane rupture, oligohydramnios, cesarean section, and intensive care admission for mothers.

Effect of Lactobacillus sp. and yeast supplementation on performance and some blood attributes in deoxynivalenol-challenged broiler chickens.

An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of probiotic (Lactobacillus sp.) and yeast (Saccharomycese cerevisiae) on performance, organ attributes and blood traits in broiler chickens. A total of 360 one-day-old female broiler chickens (Hubbard)® were allocated to 9 treatments and four replicates (10 birds per replication).

A COST Action on microbial responses to low pH: Developing links and sharing resources across the academic-industrial divide.

We present work of our COST Action on "Understanding and exploiting the impacts of low pH on micro-organisms". First, we summarise a workshop held at the European Federation of Biotechnology meeting on Microbial Stress Responses (online in 2020) on "Industrial applications of low pH stress on microbial bio-based production", as an example of an initiative fostering links between pure and applied research. We report the outcomes of a small survey on the challenging topic of developing links between researchers working in academia and industry that show that, while people in different sectors strongly support such links, barriers remain that obstruct this process.

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of deoxynivalenol (DON) contaminated diet on performance, immune system, gut morphology and jejunal gene expression in broiler chickens. Eighty-one-day old chicks were randomly allotted into two treatments with 4 replicates (10 birds in each replication). Experimental diets were the control diet (maize-soybean meal) and an experimentally contaminated diet with 10 mg/kg DON.

The Importance of Proper Use of N95 Respirators by Health-Care Workers.

The novel coronavirus causing the COVID-19 pandemic is spread by respiratory transmission through droplets and contact. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) recommend the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a gown, gloves, and a surgical mask or N95 respirator plus a face shield and/or goggles for health-care workers who are in direct contact with COVID-19 patients. A study in China by Wang found that health-care workers on the front line of disease treatment had inadequate training in the use of PPE, particularly for respiratory infectious diseases.

Case Presentation: The purpose of this article is to present the radiological investigation conducted on the mummy of the Maronite Joseph Tyan (1760-1820), a famous patriarch who guided the Lebanese Maronite community during a critical period of its history. Dietary differences between elderly Iranians living in Sweden and Iran a cross-sectional comparative study.

Background: During the last decades, global migration has increased and many immigrant groups have a higher prevalence than the native born population of several cardiovascular disease risk factors, including poor dietary habits. However, it is uncertain if dietary habits in immigrant populations reflect dietary habits in their country of origin or if the current diet is a consequence of the migration and possible change of dietary habits. Incontinentia pigmenti (IP) or Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome is a rare X-linked dominant genodermatosis related to the NF kappa B essential modulator (NEMO) gene with approximately 800 cases reported worldwide. It usually occurs in females characterized by cutaneous, skeletal, neurological, ocular and dental abnormalities as well as an increased risk of childhood malignancies. Herein, we report a case of IP in a 14-year-old girl emphasizing early diagnosis and adding to the current literature on the subject.
