Article Synopsis
  • Erosion significantly threatens natural resources, particularly soil and water, with varying soil loss levels globally and rehabilitation efforts often falling short due to limited consideration of soil characteristics.
  • A study was conducted in the Çapakçur microcatchment in Bingöl, Türkiye, where 428 soil samples were analyzed to calculate soil loss using the revised universal soil loss equation (RUSLE) and to create a soil quality index (SQI) based on 20 indicators.
  • The findings revealed that the microcatchment lost approximately 96,915 tons of soil annually, predominantly classified as Class-2 (weak) in terms of soil quality, indicating a need for better planning in soil protection to reduce erosion effectively.

This report presents the case of a 60-year-old male patient with trismus induced by radiotherapy and fabrication of a sectional mandibular complete denture to allow the insertion of the denture into the mouth. A mandibular sectional denture was designed in two pieces with a locking mechanism by using mini anchor and ball abutment housing with cap. Patients who have undergone maxillectomy often have constricted mouth openings, as a result of surgical intervention and radiotherapy, and complain of an inability to insert or remove dentures.

Wastewater use in agricultural irrigation is becoming a common practice in order to meet the rising water demands in arid and semi-arid regions. The study was conducted to determine the effects of the full (FI), deficit (DI), and partial root-zone drying (PRD) irrigation practices using treated municipal wastewater (TWW) and freshwater (FW) on tomato yield, water use, fruit quality, and soil and fruit heavy metal concentrations. The TWW significantly increased marketable yield compared to the FW, as well as decreased water consumption.
