Article Synopsis
  • - CHIKV cases in Malaysia increased from 2019 to 2021, likely due to the virus spreading from neighboring countries and a genotype shift from earlier outbreaks, particularly linked to the Indian Ocean Islands outbreak in 2004.
  • - An analysis of 56 CHIKV positive serum samples from Tangkak, Johor highlighted that the 2021 outbreak strains bore an ECSA-IOL genotype, closely resembling strains from a 2018-2019 outbreak in Thailand and showing mutation adaptations favoring different mosquito vectors.
  • - The findings suggest the 2021 outbreak in Malaysia is connected to strains from the Indian subcontinent via Thailand, with notable genetic mutations potentially enhancing the virus's ability to spread and adapt to

Enhancing energy efficiency in commercial buildings is crucial for reducing energy consumption. Achieving this goal requires careful monitoring and analysis of the energy usage patterns exhibited by different devices. Nonetheless, gathering data from individual appliances in commercial buildings presents difficulties due to the large number of appliances, complex installations, and costs.

Using natural deep eutectic solvents (NADESs) as a green reagent is a step toward producing environmentally friendly and sustainable technology. This study screened three natural DESs developed using quaternary ammonium salt and organic acid to analyse their capability to extract nickel ions from contaminated mangrove soil, which are ChCl: Acetic Acid (ChCl-AceA), ChCl: Levulinic Acid (ChCl-LevA), and ChCl: Ethylene Glycol(ChCl-Eg) at molar ratio 1:2. The impact of various operating parameters such as washing agent concentration, pH solution, and contact time on the NADES performance in the dissolution of Ni ions batch experiments were performed.

Public awareness on gender education may not be easily translated in living classrooms, which prompts new alternatives. In this study, we explored Shakespearean graphic novels in exposing Malaysian school students to gender-related issues. The two-fold research entails tracing the female presence in eight selected images from digital graphic novels that define the gender and place social expectations across the globe; and secondly, gathering teachers' perception of these selected graphic novels.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focuses on classifying pain intensity from facial images using a novel model that segments images into dynamic-sized "shutter blinds" for analysis.
  • It employs a pre-trained deep learning network (DarkNet19) to extract features from these segments and uses a k-nearest neighbor classifier for accurate classification.
  • The model achieved over 95% accuracy on datasets from two public pain expression databases, suggesting its potential utility in aiding doctors to detect pain non-verbally in patients who cannot communicate.

Introduction: Informed consent is the patient's selfdetermination authorization of a choice made by themself before any intervention is performed by the health care provider. It should be a structured process that includes the disclosure of relevant procedural information, benefit, risk, and other treatment option.

Materials And Methods: An open-label static group comparison experimental design was conducted in a singlecentred study starting from April 2021 until January 2022 among patients who were going for OGDS and Colonoscopy at Hospital Kuala Lipis.

Myocarditis is heart muscle inflammation that is becoming more prevalent these days, especially with the prevalence of COVID-19. Noninvasive imaging cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) can be used to diagnose myocarditis, but the interpretation is time-consuming and requires expert physicians. Computer-aided diagnostic systems can facilitate the automatic screening of CMR images for triage.

Artificial intelligence researchers conducted different studies to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Unlike other studies, this paper isn't for early infection diagnosis, but for preventing the transmission of COVID-19 in social environments. Among the studies on this is regarding social distancing, as this method is proven to prevent COVID-19 to be transmitted from one to another.

In this review, current studies on hospital readmission due to infection of COVID-19 were discussed, compared, and further evaluated in order to understand the current trends and progress in mitigation of hospital readmissions due to COVID-19. Boolean expression of ("COVID-19" OR "covid19" OR "covid" OR "coronavirus" OR "Sars-CoV-2") AND ("readmission" OR "re-admission" OR "rehospitalization" OR "rehospitalization") were used in five databases, namely Web of Science, Medline, Science Direct, Google Scholar and Scopus. From the search, a total of 253 articles were screened down to 26 articles.

Breast cancer is among the most common types of cancer in women and under the cases of misdiagnosed, or delayed in treatment, the mortality risk is high. The existence of breast microcalcifications is common in breast cancer patients and they are an effective indicator for early sign of breast cancer. However, microcalcifications are often missed and wrongly classified during screening due to their small sizes and indirect scattering in mammogram images.

Mental disorders (MDs) with onset in childhood or adolescence include neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) (intellectual disability and specific learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, attention deficit disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorders (ASD)), as well as a broad range of mental health disorders (MHDs), including anxiety, depressive, stress-related and psychotic disorders. There is a high co-morbidity of NDDs and MHDs. Globally, there have been dramatic increases in the diagnosis of childhood-onset mental disorders, with a 2- to 3-fold rise in prevalence for several MHDs in the US over the past 20 years.

A process that involves the registration of two brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) acquisitions is proposed for the subtraction between previous and current images at two different follow-up (FU) time points. Brain tumours can be non-cancerous (benign) or cancerous (malignant). Treatment choices for these conditions rely on the type of brain tumour as well as its size and location.

The catalytic steam reforming of oxygenated hydrocarbons has been holding an interest in scientific societies for the past two decades. The hydrogen production from steam reforming of glycerol, ethanol and other oxygenates such as ethylene glycol and propylene glycol are more suitable choice not just because it can be produced from renewable sources, but it also helps to decrease the transportation fuel price and making it more competitive. In addition, hydrogen itself is a green fuel for the transportation sector.
