We prospectively examined self-disclosure of HIV infection by 129 men and women to dentists and physicians. After an average of 2.3 years since initial HIV-positive notification and repeated individual counseling, only 53 percent of subjects had told their dentists of HIV infection compared to 89 percent who had told their physicians.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe role of activation of adrenergic neurons by electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in its antidepressant action was studied by examining acute sympathetic nervous system (SNS) responses to ECT during a course of treatment in patients with melancholia. ECT had an acute dose-dependent effect on plasma norepinephrine (NE) level and blood pressure. The postictal increase in plasma NE and blood pressure was independent of electrical seizure duration.
