Introduction: Approximately 70% of patients with heart failure (HF) also have kidney disease. Mortality is increased both by cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) and by the exacerbation of other comorbidities. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical performance of patients with CRS who are followed up by the Cardiorenal Unit (CRU).

The use of novel information and communication technologies (ICTs) focused on the field of health, may facilitates a better quality of life and disease control in these patients. Our objective is to evaluate the effect of monitoring DKD patients using NORA-app.

Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is the most frequently used surgical strategy in patients with BTAI, as it offers good short- and middle-term results. Previous studies have reported an abnormally high prevalence of hypertension (HT) in these patients.

Early reduction of serum free light chains (FLC) using both targeted therapy against MM and intensive hemodialysis (IHD) may improve renal outcomes. We evaluated the effectiveness of two different RRT techniques on renal recovery in an MM patient population: standard dialysis procedure vs IHD with either polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) or hemodiafiltration with endogenous reinfusion (HFR).

Treatment is not satisfactory in a significant proportion of patients with primary hypertension, despite the concurrent use of three or more medications with different mechanisms of action. Such treatment-resistant hypertension is a clinical challenge associated with poor prognosis and needs further investigation.

However, there is scarce data on the long-term impact of hepatitis C cure on CKD. The aim of this study was to assess the long-term mortality, morbidity and hepatic/renal function outcomes in a cohort of HCV-infected individuals with CKD treated with DAAs.

Heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is the most common form of HF. The pathophysiology of CRS is not well known and several mechanisms have been proposed.

We examined the association between RAS blockade and COVID-19 diagnosis and prognosis in a large population-based cohort of patients with hypertension (HTN).
Methods: This is a cohort study using regional health records.
Objective: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is widely used for the treatment of patients with blunt traumatic thoracic aortic injury (BTAI). However, aortic haemodynamic and biomechanical implications of this intervention are poorly investigated. This study aimed to assess whether patients treated by TEVAR following BTAI have thoracic aortic abnormalities in geometry, stiffness, and haemodynamics.

Currently, DKD is severely infra-diagnosed, or its diagnosis is usually made at advanced stages of the disease. During the last decade, new drugs have demonstrated a beneficial effect in terms of cardiovascular and renal protection in type 2 diabetes, supporting the crucial role of an early DKD diagnosis to permit the use of new available therapeutic strategies.

Few sites are currently carrying out this procedure, with limited literature existing on the indications, complications and diagnostic yield thereof. The aim of the study is to analyse the indications, diagnostic yield, safety and complications of percutaneous transjugular renal biopsies in our site over the last 15 years.

Methods: Kidney and liver transplant recipients between May 2014 and August 2016 at 4 participating centers were included. Serum immunoglobulins and complement factors, peripheral blood lymphocyte subpopulations, and whole blood EBVd were determined at months 1, 3, and 6.
Immunosuppression based on calcineurin inhibitors (CNIs) has greatly improved organ transplantation, although subsequent nephrotoxicity significantly hinders treatment success. There are no currently available specific soluble biomarkers for CNI-induced nephrotoxicity and diagnosis relies on renal biopsy, which is costly, invasive and may cause complications. Accordingly, identification of non-invasive biomarkers distinguishing CNI-induced kidney tubular damage from that of other etiologies would greatly improve diagnosis and enable more precise dosage adjustment.

The Barcelona cohort consisted of 109 early and 66 late biopsies in patients receiving high tacrolimus (TAC-C target at 1-year 6-10 ng/ml) and reduced MMF dose (500 mg bid at 1-year). The Oslo cohort consisted of 262 early and 237 late biopsies performed in patients treated with low TAC-C (target 3-7 ng/ml) and standard MMF dose (750 mg bid).

Disease prevalence and the index of suspicion are both low, which tends to result in delayed diagnosis and treatment. We present the case of a male Fabry disease patient who manifested no angiokeratoma lesions but presented multiple parapelvic cysts and renal failure.
