Molecular surveillance of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) isolated from Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM), a Malaysian teaching hospital revealed clonal replacement events of SCCmec type III-SCCmercury to SCCmec type IV strains before the year 2017; however, the reasons behind this phenomenon are still unclear. This study aimed to identify factors associated with the clonal replacement using genomic sequencing and phenotypic investigations (antibiogram profiling, growth rate and desiccation tolerance determination, survival in vancomycin sub-minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination) of representative HCTM MRSA strains isolated in four-year intervals from 2005 - 2017 (n = 16). HCTM Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policies were also reviewed.

Skeletally anchored maxillary protraction using screw-anchored mini-plates combined with intraoral elastics has shown promising results in achieving orthopedic changes and maintaining the outcome until the completion of the growth. This case report presents the course of treatment in a patient with unilateral cleft lip and palate and multiple congenitally missing teeth treated with bone-anchored maxillary protraction until the end of growth.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Nudge theory in plaque control and assess caries experience among third-grade primary schoolchildren with refugee and immigrant backgrounds in Mashhad, Iran. Moreover, Afghan and Iranian schoolchildren were compared to assess differences in oral health outcomes.

With the significant changes in the social environment in the past decades, students' personalities may also change dramatically. Additionally, with the increasing number of international students admitted into US dental programs, educators must pay attention to the potential personality differences between domestic and international students.

Objectives: This systematic review aims to explore the potential of microbial-derived biosurfactants for oral applications.
Dengue, caused by the dengue virus (DENV), is a prevalent arthropod-borne disease in humans and poses a significant burden on public health. Severe cases of dengue can be life-threatening. Although a licensed dengue vaccine is available, its efficacy varies across different virus serotypes and may exacerbate the disease in some seronegative recipients.

Histologically, liver fibrosis still occurs progressively in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, even if HBV-DNA is negative or undetectable. The diagnosis of LF is beneficial to control the development of it, also it may promote the reversal of LF.

Methods: A total of 200 horizontal root slices (1 mm thickness) were prepared up to size 40, 0.04 taper and randomly divided into four main groups based on solvent (Endosolv, orange oil, chloroform) and control (saline), then subdivided into two subgroups based on sealer type (AH Plus Jet and iRoot SP).
This study aims to evaluate the number of roots and root canal morphology types of maxillary premolars in relation to a patient's gender and age in an Iraqi population using two classification systems. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of 1116 maxillary premolars from 385 patients were evaluated for the number of roots and root canal morphology types according to Vertucci's classification and Ahmed et al. classification systems.

Additionally, this pilot study aimed to provide a descriptive evaluation for the accuracy and reliability of the Dental Monitoring (DM)-captured scans to those of an iTero digital scans in an extraction space closure model.
Settings And Sample Population: 3D intraoral photographic scans (DM) for 12 patients with maxillary first premolar extractions in a single-centre academic institution.
This systematic review evaluated the effects of nano-sized cement particles on the properties of calcium silicate-based cements (CSCs). Using defined keywords, a literature search was conducted to identify studies that investigated properties of nano-calcium silicate-based cements (NCSCs). A total of 17 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria.

Spleen-strengthening and liver-draining formula (SLF) is a formula formed according to the theory of "One Qi Circulation" (Qing Dynasty, 1749) of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which has shown significant therapeutic effect in patients with NAFLD in a preliminary clinical observation. In this study, we aim to explore the mechanism of SLF against NAFLD, especially its effect on glucolipid metabolism, from the perspective of intestinal flora.

This study aims to investigate the values of cerebroplacental ration for the prediction of adverse perinatal events in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

The domination of high-cost organic acids over other 3-hydroxyvalerate (3HV) precursors due to the wide preference among polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA)-producing bacteria has limited the development of diverse poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyvalerate) [P(3HB-co-3HV)] production processes. 1-pentanol is a low-cost 3HV precursor but is rarely employed due to the relatively low tolerance among PHA-producing bacteria. This study demonstrated P(3HB-co-3HV) production with manipulable and reproducible 3HV composition and 3HV yield from palm olein and 1-pentanol.
