IL-36 is a most recent member of the IL-1 cytokine family, primarily expressed at barrier sites of the body such as the skin, lungs, and intestine. Rapidly involuting congenital hemangioma is a subtype of congenital hemangioma. Ulceration and bleeding are rarely reported in rapidly involuting congenital hemangioma, with only four cases reported in the literature to our knowledge. We describe a case of a newborn girl who presented with rapidly involuting congenital hemangioma complicated by ulceration and severe bleeding and discuss treatment.
