Is Surgery Safe in Gallstone-Related Acute Diseases in Elderly Patients?

- The study aimed to evaluate the safety of surgical treatments for acute biliary pancreatitis and cholecystitis in older patients, specifically those over 65 years old, conducted at a hospital in Turkey from 2010 to 2012.
- Out of 172 patients analyzed, most were female, with the majority diagnosed with acute cholecystitis; various treatment methods were used, including medical management and different types of surgeries.
- The findings suggest that laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a viable option for selected elderly patients, depending on their overall health and disease severity.
Objective: Mastalgia is the most common complaint of patients who are admitted for breast examination. Breast pain may originate breast tissue pathologies or non-breast pathologies adjacent organs. One of the causes of mastalgia is the varicella-zoster infection of the thoracic nerve ganglions.
