Sepsis is a serious medical condition linked to the body's response to infections, and this study aimed to see if a specific gene polymorphism (ROCK1) is associated with sepsis in a Turkish population.
The study compared 100 sepsis patients to 100 healthy controls and analyzed two polymorphisms of the ROCK1 gene using real-time PCR, finding no significant differences in frequency.
The research concluded that the ROCK1 gene rs35996865 polymorphism does not appear to be a risk factor for developing sepsis in the studied population.
