A series of new cationic first-row transition metal complexes of [Mn(sac)(HO)(tpma)](sac)·HO (Mn), [(μ-O){FeCl(tpma)}](sac)·3HO (Fe), [Co(sac)(HO)(tpma)](sac)·HO (Co), [Ni(HO)(tpma)](sac)·2HO (Ni), [Cu(sac)(tpma)](sac) (Cu) and [Zn(sac)(HO)(tpma)](sac) (Zn), where sac = saccharinate and tpma = tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine, were synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis, IR, ESI-MS, NMR, X-ray diffraction and conductivity measurements. The cytotoxic activity of the metal complexes was evaluated against lung carcinoma (A549), breast adenocarcinoma (MCF7), colon (HT29), and normal BEAS-2B cell lines. Mn and Fe displayed potent cytotoxic activity in all cell lines with IC values between 1.

Background/objectives: The objective of this study was to assess the connection between the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) values and failure patterns of patients with IDH wild-type glioblastoma (GB) who underwent radiotherapy (RT) with FLAIR-based gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation.

Methods: Seventy-one patients who received RT at a dose of 60 Gy to the GTV and 50 Gy to the clinical target volume (CTV) and had documented recurrence were retrospectively analyzed. Each patient's maximum distance of recurrence (MDR) from the GTV was documented in whichever plane it extended the farthest.

Article Synopsis
  • Morphea is a rare autoimmune disease affecting the skin and subcutaneous tissues, with this study analyzing 78 patients to explore its demographic, clinical, and histological characteristics between 2016 and 2022.
  • The plaque type was the most common clinical presentation (87.5%), with significant histopathological findings such as complete homogenization of dermal collagen (100%) and significant loss of skin appendages (98.7%).
  • Key observations included varying histopathological features and a notable association of certain signs in lower extremity lesions, suggesting morphea’s complex diagnosis may require careful clinical correlation.

Purpose: Venous outflow impediment is increasingly recognized in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). We aim to search for the value of tortuous occipital emissary vein (OEV) in IIH by integrating measurable transverse sinus (TS) stenosis in contrast-enhanced MR venography (CE-MRV).

Methods: Twenty-one IIH patients were evaluated with CE-MRV.

Among cereals, triticale (× Wittmack ex A. Camus) represents a number of advantages such as high grain yield even in marginal environments, tolerance to drought, cold and acid soils, as well as lower production costs. Together with high biomass of grain and straw, triticale is also considered as an industrial energy crop.

Article Synopsis
  • Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is crucial for human immunity by producing hypochlorous acid to combat microorganisms, but it can also damage tissues when released outside phagocytes.
  • MPO is linked to various inflammatory diseases, making it a promising target for new therapies.
  • This study developed and tested isomeric 1,3-dihydro-2H-benzo[d]imidazole-2-thione derivatives, identifying 2-(2-thioxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-benzo[d]imidazole-1-yl)acetohydrazide (C19) as the most potent inhibitor of MPO activity.

Herein, eight new NHC-based selenourea derivatives were synthesized and characterized by using spectroscopic method (H, F, and C NMR, FT-IR), and elemental analysis techniques. These compounds were synthesized by mixing benzimidazolium salts, potassium carbonate, and selenium powder in ethyl alcohol. Additionally, the molecular and crystal structures of the three compounds (, , and ) were determined using the single-crystal x-ray diffraction (XRD) method.

PURPOSE We aimed to demonstrate the feasibility of ultrasound (US)-guided retrograde tibial access through chronically occluded tibial arteries as a bailout endovascular recanalization procedure in patients with critical limb ischemia (CLI). METHODS Fifty-one CLI patients with failed conventional antegrade tibiopedal recanalization required retrograde tibiopedal access in the same session. In all of these patients, the target tibial artery was chronically occluded in at least the distal half of the cruris.

The method for producing 4-trifluoromethoxybenzyl substituted benzimidazolium salts is described in this article. The method is based on the reaction of 4-trifluoromethoxybenzyl substituent alkylating agent with 1-alkylbenzimidazole. This method yielded 1-(4-trifluoromethoxybenzyl)-3-alkylbenzimidazolium bromide salts.

The palladium-based complexes bearing -heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligand have long attracted attention as active catalysts for many catalytic reactions. Recently, the biological activities of these complexes, which are stable to air and moisture, have also been wondered. With the aim, we report the synthesis of a series of (NHC)Pd(Br)(L) complexes (NHC: 1,3-dibenzylbenzimidazolium, L: morpholine, triphenylphosphine, pyridine, 3-chloropyridine, and 2-aminopyridine).

Superficial acral fibromyxoma is a rare, benign, slow-growing, soft-tissue tumor commonly located in the acral regions, with a predilection for the great toe, developing from the nail unit. Because of its nonspecific features and rarity, clinical diagnosis is difficult. In this article, we present a case of superficial acral fibromyxoma located in the nail unit with new dermatoscopic and radiologic findings that have not been previously reported in the literature.
