Objective: Graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is a common and serious complication following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT), significantly impacting transplant efficacy. In the treatment of GvHD, numerous therapeutic approaches have been explored, with mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) emerging as a prominent immunomodulatory option. We aimed to evaluate efficacy and outcomes of using MSCs for steroid refractory acute GVHD (SR-aGvHD) management.

Objective: Acute graft versus host disease (GVHD) occurs in 20-80 % of patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Of these patients, 40 % will be resistant to steroids, which is the standard first-line approach. There is no standard second line treatment approach for patients with steroid refractory acute GVHD (SR-aGVHD).

Objective: Vitamin D deficiency is common in adult patients undergoing allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). Since vitamin D is an important regulatory factor for the immune system, vitamin D deficiency may have effects on antitumor activity, relapse rates, graft versus host disease (GVHD) occurrence and infection rates in allo-HSCT. We aimed to investigate the effects of vitamin D levels on the outcome of allo-HSCT.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify key parameters of a scoring system to be developed to predict the homozygous M694V genotype in patients clinically diagnosed with familial Mediterranean fever.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional analysis of 472 pediatric familial Mediterranean fever patients with a homozygous genotype on exon 10, followed at our tertiary pediatric rheumatology clinic between June 2016 and June 2023. The patients were categorized into 2 groups based on their genotypes: group 1 comprised 402 patients (85.

Objectives: In this study, we aimed to compare the engraftment days, graft versus host disease (GVHD) development, relapse and overall survival (OS) rates in patients using variable intensity conditioning regimens with two different post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy) doses for hematological malignancies.

Material And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 162 patients who have had PTCy at a dose of 25 mg/kg × 2 and 50 mg/kg × 2 between 2018 and 2024. Patients were divided in 2 groups; PTCy dose with 25 mg/kg × 2 (Group 1, n = 45) and PTCy dose with 50 mg/kg × 2 (Group 2, n = 117).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focuses on improving transitional care for adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) as they move to adult healthcare systems, suggesting the need for tailored programs in each country.
  • - A Delphi study involving adolescents, parents, and clinicians was conducted to gather expert opinions and identify key components of transitional care, with significant participation in the initial surveys.
  • - While a consensus was reached on essential transitional care issues for JIA patients, further agreement is needed on practical applications of a final checklist to enhance care in Turkey.

Introduction: Topical therapies are used in almost all patients with psoriasis. A novel fixed topical combination cream (GN-037) with a lower concentration (0.0356%) of clobetasol 17-propionate (CP) was developed together with urea, salicylic acid, and retinoic acid to provide a better benefit-risk ratio.

Water and wastewater pollution by acetamiprid and diuron is considered a serious environmental problem. In this study, chitosan (CHS), a naturally occurring bioadsorbent considered ecologically harmless to remove these micropollutants, was developed as a possible carrier to immobilize laccase (Lac) from Trametes trogii. Polyethylene glycol methyl ether (PEGME) was chosen for blending CHS, so a hybrid biocatalyst-based Lac/CHS-PEGME membrane was prepared.

  • Millions are affected by natural disasters annually, leading to serious medical issues like crush syndrome, which often results in acute kidney injury tied to high mortality rates.
  • This study analyzed data from 1024 patients with crush syndrome after the February 2023 earthquakes in Kahramanmaras, focusing on their treatment and outcomes in Turkish hospitals.
  • The findings revealed high rates of acute kidney injury and hemodialysis treatment, with a 9.8% in-hospital mortality rate, highlighting the urgent need for improved emergency response training and protocols for managing kidney health in disaster scenarios.

Objectives: We aimed to report the characteristics of pediatric IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) through a multicentre registry, to assess disease clusters, and to evaluate the performances of the 2019 American College of Rheumatology and European League Against Rheumatism (ACR/EULAR) classification criteria and the 2020 revised comprehensive diagnostic (RCD) criteria in this cohort.

Methods: Data of IgG4-RD patients in 13 pediatric rheumatology centers were recorded to a web-based registration system. The diagnosis of IgG4-RD was made according to the 2011 comprehensive diagnostic criteria.

  • Protracted febrile myalgia syndrome (PFMS) occurs in patients with familial Mediterranean fever and presents with symptoms like severe muscle pain, fever, and joint issues lasting weeks.
  • A study analyzed 17 PFMS cases from a pediatric clinic, revealing that most patients had a specific gene mutation and highlighting the challenge of diagnosing PFMS, especially since it can sometimes appear without fever.
  • Treatment typically includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and corticosteroids; however, some patients might need long-term therapy with anakinra or canakinumab to manage severe symptoms effectively.

  • This study aimed to create normative data on lower extremity tendon thickness in healthy children and explore correlations with age, gender, and body measurements using ultrasounds.
  • A total of 192 children aged 5-18 were examined for tendon thickness at five specific locations, and significant correlations were found between tendon thickness and factors like age and weight, particularly for the distal patellar ligament and Achilles tendon.
  • The results showed reliable data on tendon thickness, minimal vascular activity in younger children, and demonstrated strong agreement between observers in the measurements.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looked at using whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (WBMRI) to help diagnose rheumatic diseases in kids at a pediatric clinic.
  • Over five years, 87 patients were examined, many of whom had pain in different parts of their bodies where doctors were unsure of the cause.
  • WBMRI helped find new diagnoses like chronic nonbacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) and assisted in confirming other conditions like juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), showing it was helpful for understanding complex cases.

  • Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is an effective treatment for hematologic cancers, but some patients can't collect enough stem cells with just G-CSF, leading to the use of chemomobilization.
  • In a study of 183 lymphoma and myeloma patients, 43 experienced febrile neutropenia (FN), showing lower preapheresis blood counts and slower platelet and neutrophil recovery post-transplant.
  • Despite the challenges posed by FN, sufficient harvesting of CD34+ stem cells remains possible, indicating the need for prompt treatment of FN and possibly more apheresis sessions.
