Elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines have been linked to increased mortality in COVID-19 patients. Infliximab, a tumor necrosis factor inhibitor, has been reported to improve outcomes in COVID-19 patients by targeting the hyperinflammatory response. Our objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of incorporating Infliximab into standard care guidelines for the management of COVID-19.

Prevalence and Determinants of Self-Medication Among Pregnant Women at an Antenatal Clinic at Soba Teaching Hospital, Sudan: A Cross-Sectional Analysis.

BACKGROUND Rates of self-medication among pregnant women are high, due to the promotion of herbal and dietary supplements and lack of awareness of possible adverse effects. This study evaluated self-medication in pregnant women attending an antenatal clinic at Soba Teaching Hospital, Sudan. MATERIAL AND METHODS A quantitative study was conducted using a pre-tested semi-structured interviewer-administered questionnaire, which consisted of 25 questions divided into 4 sections: demographic and obstetric; self-medication source, recommendations, and conditions; most commonly used medications and herbal medicine; reasons for self-medications.

BACKGROUND Preeclampsia presents with gestational proteinuria, usually after 20 weeks of gestation, and can be complicated by generalized tonic-clonic seizures of eclampsia. Particularly in countries with limited healthcare resources, preeclampsia and eclampsia are major causes of maternal morbidity and mortality. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the presentation, management, and outcomes of 185 women with preeclampsia and eclampsia in 2 maternity hospitals in Omdurman, Sudan, between January and December 2020.

This questionnaire-based study included 392 women to evaluate information on the types of cosmetics purchased between December 2018 and March 2019, their use by the women surveyed, and their associated adverse events.

Despite its role in cancer surveillance, adoptive immunotherapy using γδ T cells has achieved limited efficacy. To enhance trafficking to bone marrow, circulating Vγ9Vδ2 T cells are expanded in serum-free medium containing TGF-β1 and IL-2 (γδ[T2] cells) or medium containing IL-2 alone (γδ[2] cells, as the control). Unexpectedly, the yield and viability of γδ[T2] cells are also increased by TGF-β1, when compared to γδ[2] controls.

Introduction: Atypical chronic myeloid leukaemia (aCML) is a rare chronic myeloproliferative disorder with a poor prognosis.

Case Report: This case report presents two cases of male geriatric patients, both referred from primary care in rural areas and received at an urban clinic in a tertiary care hospital on separate instances. The first patient complained of low-grade fever (on/off), generalized body aches, rapid weight loss and shortness of breath for the last 2 months.
