COVID-19, caused by a severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), can lead to severe infection and has been suggested to induce autoimmune phenomena. We report three cases of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) occurring after COVID-19 infection and we present a systematic review of the literature of cases of RA post COVID-19. Our findings suggest that RA may be trigged by COVID-19 infection in genetically predisposed individuals.

In the current study we aimed to investigate the effect of specific dual task training (SDTT) compared to conventional soccer training (CST) on motor and cognitive performances in U13 elite soccer players. Twenty-four young soccer players (all males) participated in this study. We measured their change of direction ability (CODA) and cognitive performances (cognitive flexibility and inhibition) before and after four weeks in either the SDTT group or the CST group.

In this research, thermal modeling has been done to investigate the effect of nanofluid on the performance of the linear parabolic collector. Therminol vapor/liquid phase fluid (VP-1) has been used as a base fluid; iron oxide nanoparticles have been used to produce mono-nanofluid; and iron oxide multi-walled carbon nanotubes nanocomposite has been used as nanoparticles to produce hybrid nanofluid. The fluid flow inside the absorber tube of the collector is assumed to be turbulent.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the effectiveness of targeted antibiotic prophylaxis (TAP) based on rectal swab culture versus standard empiric prophylaxis with ciprofloxacin in patients undergoing transrectal ultrasound-guided needle biopsy of the prostate (TRUS-BP).
  • A total of 157 patients were randomized into two groups, with G1 receiving TAP and G2 receiving standard empiric treatment; findings indicated a prevalent resistance to Fluoroquinolone-resistant Enterobacterales (FQRE) in the G2 group.
  • The results revealed that TAP led to a significantly lower rate of febrile urinary tract infections after the procedure (3.8% in G2 compared to 13% in G1), illustrating its effectiveness in

Purpose: Our aim was to study the anatomy of the left and right main adrenal veins (LAV and RAV) and to identify their anatomical variations in order to see the practical application of these findings to adrenal venous sampling (AVS).

Methods: Our work is based on dissection of 80 adrenal glands from fresh corpses in the forensic medicine department. We studied the number, the drainage, the direction and the level of termination of the main adrenal veins.

Introduction: The conventional radial approach (CRA), the gold standard approach for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), is associated with the risk of radial artery occlusion (RAO). The distal radial approach (DRA) is an effective alternative with fewer complications.

Aim: To evaluate the efficacy in terms of puncture success and safety by RAO rate of the DRA in elective PCI in Tunisian patients.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) patients' diagnosis and management was affected by a global reorganization after the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our study aimed to assess the impact of the pandemic on the pathological stage of newly diagnosed patients with BC compared to pre-pandemic and to identify predictive factors of tumor advanced stage.

Methods: Pathological records of all consecutive newly operated BC patients between March 2020 and December 2021 were reviewed retrospectively.

Background: Emphysematous pyelonephritis (EPN) is a rare and severe necrotizing infection of the kidney with a high rate of complications and mortality. Our aim was to investigate risk factors of urosepsis and mortality in case of EPN.

Materials And Methods: Between January 2010 and December 2022 the charts of patients diagnosed with EPN were retrospectively reviewed.

The adrenal gland is a retroperitoneal organ with intimate relationships with neighboring organs but also with the large retroperitoneal vessels. Our aim was to study the vascular relationships of the adrenal gland with the large abdominal vessels. Our work is an anatomical dissection of 80 fresh cadaveric adrenals.

Background: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most frequent endocrine disorder that affects reproductive-age women with important long-term health implications. As such, the anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) was proposed as a helpful test to identify women with PCOS. The aim of this study was to determine an AMH cut-off value for the diagnosis of PCOS.

Objectives: In the professional environment, low back pain (LBP) is a multifactorial symptomatology, despite scientific and technological advances in the design and the arrangement of increasingly ergonomic workstations. Teachers are not exempt from this risk, due to prolonged sitting or standing. In light of this, this study aimed to estimate LBP prevalence among teachers in Southern Tunisia and to identify their determinants.

Background: Unilateral primary aldosteronism (UPA) is the most frequent surgically curable form of endocrine hypertension. Adrenalectomy is the cornerstone of treatment for UPA, but outcomes after surgery are variable. Aldosteronoma Resolution Score (ARS) is a four-item predictive score for the cure of hypertension after adrenalectomy for UPA and has been demonstrated to be valid in different populations.

In the present study, we aimed to report our single-center experience in encrusted ureteral stent management and to compare the utility of two different scoring systems in patient management. This is a retrospective study of patients who underwent various surgical procedures to remove encrusted ureteral stent. Encrusted stent grading was performed using KUB and FECal grading sytems.

Introduction: Appropriate knowledge of healthcare professionals (HCPs) on the various aspects of disinfection and reuse of medical devices is a basic requirement to ensure proper disinfection and to minimize the risk of healthcare associated infections. In this regard this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of a training intervention on knowledge and practices regarding thermosensitive reusable medical devices (TRMD) disinfection among HCPs.

Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study including a pre-test, an intervention (workshops, demonstrations, posters), and a post-test evaluation of the HCPs' knowledge and practices regarding the disinfection of TRMD.

Background: Intraoperative iatrogenic ureteral injuries represent rare technical surgical complications with the potential for adverse patient outcomes, particularly when the diagnosis is delayed. Ideally, these technical complications are recognized and repaired intraoperatively. This study was designed to investigate the root causes and outcomes of missed intraoperative ureteral injuries at a tertiary urology referral centre in Tunisia.

Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic painful condition frequently associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which may falsely increase RA activity. The aim of our study was to compare clinical scoring and ultrasound (US) assessment in RA patients with concomitant FM with those without FM.

Methods: A cross-sectional study including patients with RA according to the ACR/EULAR 2010 criteria was conducted.

Background Wound healing has classically been described to occur in three phases, regardless of the mechanism of injury. These phases are the inflammatory, proliferative, and remodeling phases. Chronic diseases adversely affect the wound healing process, and more needs to be done for different policies, such as adjustment of drug therapy, diet, or behavior to help rapid wound healing.
