Background: Intraoperative challenges and complications and their course over experience in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) applications in hemophilic arthropathy have seldom been studied. Our study aimed to analyze the learning dynamics and the evolving perspective of a single arthroplasty surgeon in hemophilic knees.

Methods: The study encompassed all primary TKAs performed on hemophilic patients by a single experienced arthroplasty surgeon from May 2002 to October 2023.

Disseminated cryptococcosis in a child with liver transplantation: a case report.

Background: Cryptococcus neoformans causes cryptococcosis, primarily affecting immunocompromised individuals, including solid-organ transplant recipients, and, less frequently, immunocompetent people.

Case: A 15-year-old male with congenital hepatic fibrosis, portal hypertension, and cirrhosis underwent orthotopic liver transplantation. He received perioperative antimicrobial and antifungal prophylaxis and continued immunosuppressive treatment.

A Comparison of Clinical and Laboratory Features of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever in Children and Adults: A Retrospective Single-Center Cohort Study and Literature Review.

Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) is a major emerging infectious disease threat, and children are reported to have a milder disease course compared with adults, in contrast to other viral hemorrhagic fevers. The aim of this study was to compare adult and pediatric patients with CCHF to improve understanding of pathogenesis and the natural history of the disease. A retrospective analysis of all children and adults admitted with confirmed CCHF between 2011 and 2020.

Introduction: Medial open wedge high tibial osteotomy is a biological procedure for treating unicompartmental knee osteoarthritis. The literature repeatedly highlights the significance of preserving an intact lateral hinge during this procedure. We investigated the temporal course of distraction forces during distraction at the osteotomy site, aiming to quantitatively measure and analyse temporal changes in distraction forces at different distraction points for intact and fractured lateral hinges.

Background: Congenital sucrase-isomaltase deficiency (CSID) is a rare inherited carbohydrate malabsorption disorder caused by () gene variants. In CSID, an autosomal recessively inherited disease, symptoms can also be seen in individuals with heterozygous mutations.

Methods: The variant spectrum was evaluated retrospectively in individuals who presented with chronic diarrhea between 2014 and 2022 and had undergone genetic testing of the gene considering CSID due to diet-related complaints.

Introduction: The literature highlighted that problematic internet use can have detrimental consequences on individuals' well-being. Social media addiction, escapism and coping skills are closely related to problematic internet use. However, no study has currently examined the relationship between problematic internet use and social media use, escapism and coping skills.

Objective: In this experimental animal study, a novel bilayered scaffold used in the treatment of osteochondral defects in rabbit knees was evaluated. This novel scaffold's upper (cartilage) layer consists of polyglycolic acid and hyaluronic acid, and the lower (bone) layer consists of β-tricalcium phosphate. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of this novel scaffold, combined with or without mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), in the treatment of osteochondral defects in rabbit knees.

Stereology is a discipline that allows us to obtain quantitative information about the geometric structure of three-dimensional objects. In this study, the volume of grey matter (GM), white matter (WM), and lateral ventricle (LV) of the cerebral hemispheres (CH) in sheep and goats were calculated. For this purpose, six healthy male sheep and goat brains (1-2 years old) without any anomaly were used.

Isolated popliteus tendon injury in a young patient: A case report.

Isolated popliteus injury is a rare clinical condition which can be treated either surgically or conservatively. Factors such as the patient's age, activity level, and cooperation with the medical team are determinants to choose the most optimal treatment option. Acute complications observed during intensive chemotherapy in pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia: Single-center experience.

Objective: In childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), very promising results were obtained thanks to the developments in treatment strategies in recent years. However, acute complications during treatment continue to be the important causes of mortality and morbidity. In this study, acute complications that develop during the treatment of ALL in childhood were evaluated.

Conducting osteochondral injury model in rabbit knee: Pearls and pitfalls.

Osteochondral damage is a commonly encountered issue in the daily orthopedic practice and has been extensively researched across various areas, including tissue transplantations, tissue engineering products, stem cell applications, and cell culture studies. The absence of a universally accepted treatment as the gold standard for osteochondral damage indicates the necessity for further studies in this field in the future. Although the biomechanical characteristics of the rabbit knee do not perfectly mimic those of the human knee, experimental studies conducted on rabbit knees are considered the most practical experimental model for testing a well-constructed experimental hypothesis.

Epidemiologic and microbiologic evaluation of catheter-line bloodstream infection in a pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant center.

Background: Children who underwent hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) transplants are at high risk of developing central-line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs). The present study aimed to identify possible risk factors for mortality by analyzing the clinical and laboratory characteristics of patients diagnosed with CLABSI in our pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant unit.

Introduction: In children with inborn errors of immunity (IEI) who will receive a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) treosulfan-based conditioning is currently preferred.
