Patients diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) become dependent on caregivers to meet their daily needs and perform personal care activities. For this reason, ALS is a disease that can challenge both the patient and the caregiver physically, mentally and socially. Supporting the caregiver indirectly affects the patient's quality of care and mental well-being.

Interpersonal conflicts in nursing through the lens of senior nursing students: A qualitative study.

Background: Unmanaged interpersonal conflicts emerge as significant obstacles for the nursing team during daily duties. Observations and discussions with nursing undergraduate students determined the need to explore their perspectives on conflict management in greater depth.

Objective: To investigate the perspectives of senior undergraduate nursing students on conflicts experienced by nurses during clinical practice, as well as the strategies employed to manage these conflicts.

Evaluation of Injured Structures and Circulation of Fingers From Photos Taken in the Emergency Department After Hand Injury.

Purpose: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of smartphone photographs, taken at the emergency department (ED) and shared with hand surgeons, in identifying critical circulatory issues and neurovascular bundle injury, as well as tendon and bone injuries.

Methods: The photographs of hand injuries of 50 patients who were referred to our ED between January 2020 and January 2022 were used to design a questionnaire. This questionnaire, including closed-ended questions about the injured structures, was shared with a group of hand surgeons via a WhatsApp group in Turkey.

Background: Although international guidelines generally recommend the back to back use of short-acting β-agonists (SABA) within a short time in the management of acute wheezing in children with asthma, there is still uncertainty in the evidence of short term outcome. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the efficacy of back to back and single use of inhaled SABA by lung function testing.

Methods: This was a prospective, double-blinded, placebo controlled study conducted in children ≥6 years of age with a history of asthma.

Investigating the potential clinical impact of periodontitis on the progression of Alzheimer's disease: a prospective cohort study.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect of periodontitis and current occlusal relationship on the progression rate of Alzheimer's disease (AD).

Methods: Ninety Alzheimer's patients, who were divided into three groups as Stage I (n=42), Stage II (n=29), and Stage III (n=19), based on the Clinical Dementia Rating Scale, were included in the study. Cognitive status of the patients was evaluated with Standardized Mini-Mental Test (SMMT) at baseline and repeated 6 months later.

-Associated Immunoskeletal Dysplasia with Neurodevelopmental Abnormalities: A Lethal Phenotype.

Immunoskeletal dysplasia with neurodevelopmental abnormalities (ISDNA) caused by biallelic mutations is a very rare syndrome with only 16 cases reported in the literature. Skeletal dysplasia, neurodevelopmental delay, immunodeficiency, liver, and kidney cysts are the most common findings of this syndrome. Here, we report on a patient who exhibited a lethal phenotype with clinical characteristics of this syndrome and had a homozygous pathogenic mutation in gene.

Perceptions of nursing students about leadership: A qualitative study.

Background: Competent nursing leadership is essential for quality care. Nursing students must be empowered to exercise leadership.

Capturing CO selectively from flue gas and natural gas addresses the criteria of a sustainable society. In this work, we incorporated an ionic liquid (IL) (1-methyl-1-propyl pyrrolidinium dicyanamide, [MPPyr][DCA]) into a metal organic framework (MOF), MIL-101(Cr), by wet impregnation and characterized the resulting [MPPyr][DCA]/MIL-101(Cr) composite in deep detail to identify the interactions between [MPPyr][DCA] molecules and MIL-101(Cr). Consequences of these interactions on the CO/N, CO/CH, and CH/N separation performance of the composite were examined by volumetric gas adsorption measurements complemented by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations.

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the structure of publications on transformational leadership in nursing and determine its evolution process through a bibliometric analysis.

Design/methodology/approach: It is a descriptive bibliometric study. Data were collected on October 24, 2022, from the Web of Science and analyzed using Excel, VOSviewer, HistCite and Bibliometrix R programs.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the branching patterns and topographical features of the third part of the maxillary artery (t-MA) and descending palatine artery (DPA) by 3-Dimensional Rotational Angiography (3DRA) images and to define the radiological classification of their variations, based upon the previous cadaveric studies and a review of the literature.

Method: This study was conducted from May 2020 through June 2021. All consecutive adult patients who were examined with 3D-RA were enrolled in the study.

Cultural Competence of Turkish Nurses and Nursing Students: An Integrative Literature Review.

Introduction: Turkish population is characterized by its great cultural diversity, thus, Turkish nurses and nursing students often interact with patients of different cultural backgrounds from theirs. Cultural competence is needed to provide qualified contemporary nursing care. This study aimed to explore the literature on the cultural competence of Turkish nurses and nursing students.

Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing of ascorbic acid loaded hydrogels: A controlled release study.

Patients' genetic characteristics, age, gender, diet, and lifestyle affect the success of medical treatment. The treatment's effectiveness can be increased by using personalized medication; however, using conventional large-scale drug production methods can restrict tablet geometry and drug dosage combinations. To create these personalized drugs, 3D printing has been studied as an alternative production method.

This study aims to investigate clinical and functional factors in patients undergoing unilateral and simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) who were classified into subgroups of nonobese, obese, and morbidly obese, and to determine perioperative and postoperative complications. We conducted an evaluation of 489 nonobese, obese, and morbidly obese patients who underwent TKA due to primary knee osteoarthritis between January 2006 and December 2013. The arthroplasties were performed by three different surgeons.
