Aim Of The Study: Despite the increase in studies concerning oncoplastic reduction mammoplasty (ORM), data showing long-term aesthetic and patient satisfaction for ORM in patients with macromastia remain limited. Therefore, this study evaluated the long-term results of tumorectomy and concomitant bilateral ORM for early-stage breast cancer patients with macromastia in terms of cosmesis, patient satisfaction, and functional outcomes.

Material And Methods: Retrospective data of patients with macromastia undergoing ORM for breast cancer between 1996 and 2011 were examined and evaluated regarding the aesthetic results, patient satisfaction, and functional outcomes.

The Role of Adenomyosis in the Pathogenesis of Preeclampsia.

Introduction: Adenomyosis can cause defective deep placentation. Preeclampsia is known to be associated with abnormal placentation. The aim of this study was to compare the presence of adenomyosis on magnetic resonance imaging in patients with and without history of preeclampsia in order to investigate the possible role of adenomyosis in the pathogenesis of preeclampsia.

Analysis of the hip fracture records of a central training and research hospital by selected characteristics.

Background/aim: Despite the importance of hip fractures, very few studies have assessed their epidemiological characteristics in Turkey. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and demography of hip fractures from the recent data of a central training and research hospital.

Materials And Methods: In this descriptive study, we identified hip fracture cases between 2009 and 2013.

Congenital choledochal cysts are rare in adults. Due to the risk of developing cholangiocarcinoma, the current standard of care is complete excision of the cyst and reconstruction with hepaticojejunostomy. So far, more than 200 laparoscopic resections have been reported in adults, the majority being from Far Eastern countries over the last five years.

Olfactory functions in patients with psoriasis vulgaris: correlations with the severity of the disease.

It is well known that psoriasis is not only limited to skin, but a systemic autoimmune disease with various comorbidities. Olfactory dysfunction, one of as a common but lesser known symptom of patients with autoimmune diseases, often presents with smell loss. The aim of this study was to assess the olfactory functions in patients with psoriasis and to compare with healthy controls.

Prophylactic effects of alpha-blockers, Tamsulosin and Alfuzosin, on postoperative urinary retention in male patients undergoing urologic surgery under spinal anaesthesia.

Purpose: Postoperative urinary retention (POUR) is one of the most common complications after surgical procedures under spinal anaesthesia. Recent studies have shown the beneficial effects of alpha-adrenergic blockers in preventing POUR. The aim of this prospective study was to investigate and compare the prophylactic effects of tamsulosin and alfuzosin on POUR after urologic surgical procedures under spinal anaesthesia.

Objective: Cannabis use in people with early phase psychosis (EPP) can have a significant impact on long-term outcomes. The purpose of this investigation was to describe current cannabis use treatment practices in English-speaking early intervention services (EISs) in Canada and determine if their services are informed by available evidence.

Method: Thirty-five Canadian English-speaking EISs for psychosis were approached to complete a survey through email, facsimile, or online in order to collect information regarding their current cannabis use treatment practices.

The correlation of sodium iodide symporter and BRAF(V600E) mutation in classical variant papillary thyroid carcinoma.

BRAF(V600E) mutation was analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction in 96 consecutive cases with classical variant papillary thyroid cancer, and immunohistochemical staining of Na+/I- symporter (NIS) protein was evaluated. Localization (intracellular or membranous), density, and the intensity of cytoplasmic staining were characterized semiquantitatively. Extrathyroidal invasion, surgical margin positivity, and lymph node metastasis were compared with BRAF(V600E) mutation and NIS expression.

Pulmonary sensitivity to ozone exposure in sedentary versus chronically trained, female rats.

Epidemiological data suggest that a sedentary lifestyle may contribute to increased susceptibility for some environmental toxicants. We developed an animal model of active versus sedentary life style by providing female Sprague-Dawley rats with continuous access to running wheels. Sedentary rats were housed in standard cages without wheels.

Altered structural connectivity is related to attention deficit/hyperactivity subtypes: A DTI study.

This study aimed to provide novel insights into the white matter (WM) microstructural properties of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) subtypes by recruiting a relatively large sample of stimulant-naïve children and adolescents who had no comorbidity other than Oppositional Defiant Disorder and were homogenous according to the DAT1 gene polymorphism. A sample of 72 ADHD subjects and 24 controls aged 8-15 years were enrolled in the study. We applied tract-based spatial statistics to the DTI measures for obtaining fractional anisotropy (FA) and axial, radial diffusivity (AD, RD) measures to explore ADHD type-related differences in WM for the whole brain.

The Effect of High Dose Cilostazol and Rosuvastatin on Periprocedural Myocardial Injury in Patients with Elective Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.

Background: The aim of our study was to assess the effect of pretreatment with cilostazol and rosuvastatin combination before elective percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on peri-procedural myocardial injury (PPMIJ).

Methods: We randomly assigned 172 patients with stable angina pectoris scheduled for elective PCI to pre- treatment with Cilostazol 200mg and Rosuvastatin 40 mg (group 1), or to pretreatment with Rosuvastatin 40 mg group (group 2). The primary end-point was the occurrence of PPMIJ defined as any cardiac troponin I (Tn I) level elevated above the upper normal limit (UNL).

The histopathologic effects of L-carnitine in Sodium Taurocholate Induced Severe Pancreatitis Model.

Objective: To evaluate the histopathologic effects of L-carnitine (LC) in an experimental severe pancreatitis (SP) model induced with sodium taurocholate (STC).

Summary Of Background Data: LC is an amino acid-like molecule that plays an active role in transporting fatty acids and producing Acetyl CoA in mitochondrial matrix for β-oxidation to provide energy which is needed for metabolism. It has ameliorative effects on cell injury demonstrated in many studies.

Association of multifocality, tumor number, and total tumor diameter with clinicopathological features in papillary thyroid cancer.

Tumor multifocality is not an unusual finding in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), but its clinical significance is controversial. In this study, we aimed to evaluate impact of multifocality, tumor number, and total tumor diameter on clinicopathological features of PTC. Medical records of 912 patients who underwent thyroidectomy and diagnosed with PTC were reviewed retrospectively.

Vitamin-D measurement in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

Our retrospective study compared vitamin-D levels in 229 patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) and 389 age-matched controls, and evaluated the correlation between vitamin-D levels and sex, Cobb's angle, and serum levels of calcium (Ca), phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase in the AIS group. Vitamin-D levels were lower in the AIS group, with no sex-specific effects, indicative of a possible vitamin-D resistance in AIS. Vitamin-D levels correlated positively with Ca levels and negatively with Cobb's angle, indicative of a possible role of vitamin D in the etiopathogenesis of AIS.

Successful Evaluation of Biphasic T-wave of Wellens Syndrome in the Emergency Department.

Introduction: Wellens Syndrome (WS) is a condition characterized by typical changes in ECG, which are biphasic T-wave inversions (less common) or symmetric and deeply inverted T waves (including 75%) in lead V2-V3 chest derivations. WS is considered important because it has not only diagnostic value but also prognostic value.

Case Report: A 52-year-old male patient without cardiovascular disease or risk factors was admitted to the emergency department (ED) suffering with chest pain and syncope, just after having been involved in a discussion at work.

Objective: Penile torsion is a counterclockwise rotational anomaly of the penile shaft or glans. We aimed to evaluate the outcomes of penile degloving and dorsal dartos flap rotation used for the repair of isolated penil torsion.

Material And Methods: During evaluation of the patients admitted to our polyclinic for circumcision between January 2013-December 2014, 5 cases of isolated penile torsion were determined.

Assessment of postpartum symphysis pubis distention with 3D ultrasonography: a novel method.

Objectives: Determining the accuracy of three-dimensional (3D) sonographic measurement of symphysis pubis (SP) distension in comparison to plain X-ray pelvic radiographs and assessing the interperformer reliability of this method.

Methods: Pelvic X-ray was performed on 86 women who delivered singleton babies within 36 h of delivery then each woman was examined by 3D transperineal ultrasound imaging by two sonogrographers.

Results: Measurements of SP with 3D transperineal ultrasonography in comparison to pelvic X-ray showed 95% limits of agreement.

Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater: a case report.

Background: Primary squamous cell carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater is a very rare type of tumor, and the prognosis is not well known mainly due to a limited number of cases reported. Here, we aimed to report a case with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the ampulla of Vater.

Case Presentation: A 54-year-old woman presented with weight loss, jaundice, and pain in the epigastric and right upper quadrant of the abdomen.
