Organophosphate(OPH) compounds are cholinesteraseinhibiting chemicals used as pesticide. Pancreatitis secondary to malathion toxicity is rare and toxic hepatitis has been reported in only one case. In this paper, we report the case of the combination of acute pancreatitis and toxic hepatitis, which developed in a 30-year old farm worker and the mechanism is discussed in this first report of its kind.

Moyamoya disease is a chronic cerebrovascular disease characterized by the development of compensatory collateral vessels due to progressive narrowing or obstruction of the intracranial arteries. Neurological complications after coronary bypass in patients with Moyamoya disease may be prevented by recent technical developments, surgical modifications, and cerebral monitorization. The objective of perioperative anesthetic management is to provide balance between oxygen supply and consumption of the brain.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) within tailgut cysts (TC) are usually seen in middle-aged females. A 14 year-old boy who underwent surgical excision of NET within TC is presented to discuss the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment options.
Case Report: A 14-year-old boy with rectal bleeding and constipation had a 5 × 4 cm mass detected upon rectal examination.
Large radial tears of donor Descemet membrane (DM) during the preparation of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) grafts can make the trephination stage impossible because of small graft diameter. This results in irregular-edged grafts. In this study, we report two pseudophakic bullous keratopathy patients who underwent DMEK surgery with irregular-edged Descemet membrane (DM) grafts.

Recently, increasing evidence has supported a modulatory role of nesfatin-1 in cardiovascular activity. We have previously reported that nesfatin-1 causes an increase in blood pressure in normotensive and hypotensive rats by increasing plasma catecholamine, vasopressin, and renin levels.

Methods: The initial alignment phase of fixed orthodontic treatment with NiTi or CuNiTi round archwires was studied in a randomly allocated sample of 66 patients. The NiTi group comprised 26 women, 10 men, and the CuNiTi (27℃) group comprised 20 women, 10 men.
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a natural biomaterial and has excellent biochemical and physical properties with a history of proven biocompatibility in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Recent reports of fibrin-based matrices have offered new opportunities to apply PRF as a supplement for in vitro cell culture. Here, custom-modified human-derived PRF (HPRF) was produced via different centrifugation protocols, then, characterized by morphologically and chemically and utilized as a substrate and as a conditioned medium for limbal explant culture for the first time.

Design: Dentin specimens prepared from fifteen nonerupted molars were demineralized and randomly distributed into groups: 2.5% TiF, 4% TiF 1000 ppm NaF, and control (distilled water).
Metabolic systems engineering is being used to redirect microbial metabolism for the overproduction of chemicals of interest with the aim of transforming microbial hosts into cellular factories. In this study, a genome-based metabolic systems engineering approach was designed and performed to improve biopolymer biosynthesis capability of a moderately halophilic bacterium Halomonas smyrnensis AAD6 producing levan, which is a fructose homopolymer with many potential uses in various industries and medicine. For this purpose, the genome-scale metabolic model for AAD6 was used to characterize the metabolic resource allocation, specifically to design metabolic engineering strategies for engineered bacteria with enhanced levan production capability.

High levels of Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity have been reported in primary brain tumors, ovarian, colon and lung tumors.
Objectives: The role of cholinergic signaling needs to be clarified in in leukemia.
Capsaicin (CAP) and alpha-tocopherol (TOC) have antioxidant properties. We investigated effects of CAP and TOC on mitochondrial oxidative stress and mitochondrial bioenergetics in liver of mice fed HFD. AST, ALT, glucose, homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance index ((HOMA-IR)) and mitochondrial oxidative stress parameters increased, whereas oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) enzymes, tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA) enzymes, ATP level and mitochondrial metabolic function (MTT) decreased in mice fed a HFD compared to the fed a standard diet (NC).

As infection with HPV is the strongest risk factor for cervical neoplasia, detection of HPV genotypes in cervical and vaginal specimens of women with normal and abnormal cytology seems to be of paramount importance in cervical cancer screening. The objective of the study is to evaluate the prevalence and HPV genotypes among women with normal or abnormal Pap smear tests.

Limited studies have been carried out on the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of both CHN using different genotoxicity tests in human cells with or without human metabolic activation system (S9 mix). Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of CHN and its metabolites on human lymphocyte cultures with or without S9 mix using chromosomal aberration (CA) and micronucleus (MN) tests.

We assessed magnetic resonance imaging-based aortic diameters at nine predefined anatomic positions and examined associations of increased aortic diameters with B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP), A-type NP (ANP), growth hormone treatment, insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), and estrogen status. Forty-seven patients with TS aged 7.

Background: The outcome of bone and soft tissue sarcomas (BST) after relapse has very poor prognosis with survival rates less than 39%. Unfortunately there are not many treatment options, but promising responses have been reported with ifosfamide, etoposide and carboplatin (ICE).
Objective: Therefore, we planned a study for children with recurrent/refractory BST treated with ICE regimen to evaluate their demographic features, responses to treatment and outcome.
Proanthocyanidins (PACs) find wide applications for human use including food, cosmetics, dietary supplements, and pharmaceuticals. The chemical complexity associated with PACs has triggered the development of various chromatographic techniques, with countercurrent separation (CCS) gaining in popularity. This study applied the recently developed DESIGNER (Depletion and Enrichment of Select Ingredients Generating Normalized Extract Resources) approach for the selective enrichment of trimeric and tetrameric PACs using centrifugal partition chromatography (CPC).

Case Presentation: A non-syndromic, small for gestational age baby born to first-degree consanguineous parents was diagnosed with NDM. Because of hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes and variability in insulin requirement, we initiated a trial of glibenclamide, with a presumptive diagnosis of NDM caused by a KATP channel mutation.
Pituitary apoplexy (PA) is a life-threatening clinical syndrome. Dopamine receptor agonists are the drugs of choice in the treatment of prolactinomas. The use of cabergoline is reported to cause an increased risk of PA, particularly in macroprolactinomas of cystic nature.

This study evaluated the effect of fasting on the expression of M and M muscarinic receptors in the brain regions, the relationship between receptor expression and seizure stages, and the muscarinic receptor subtype which plays a role in the occurrence of convulsions. Mice were grouped as allowed to eat ad lib (fed) and deprived of food for 24h (fasted).
