Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the prognostic factors for C3 glomerulopathy (C3G), focusing on the total chronicity score (TCS) derived from a new histological index (C3G-HI).
  • 74 patients from 20 medical centers were analyzed to determine factors affecting kidney health outcomes, with a particular emphasis on hemoglobin levels and their correlation with patient survival and kidney function.
  • Results indicated that low hemoglobin levels were linked to worse outcomes in C3G patients, and a TCS of 4 or higher correlated with significantly lower kidney survival rates over three years.

Anxiety comorbidity in bipolar disorder (BD) is important and thus significantly affects the course of BD and its outcomes. The treatment of generalized anxiety disorder comorbid with BD involves certain challenges, as antidepressant medications, which are standard in the treatment of anxiety disorder, have the risk of shifting to manic episodes and rapid cycling. In this case report, the response to agomelatine treatment in generalized anxiety disorder comorbid with bipolar 1 disorder was evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze demographic, clinical, and treatment data of children with non-infectious uveitis and identify risk factors for complications and the need for biological treatments.
  • It included 123 patients, showing that a significant number had rheumatic diseases, with early onset and female gender linked to a higher likelihood of requiring biologic treatment.
  • Behçet's disease was strongly associated with complications, highlighting the need for close monitoring of certain pediatric patients with non-infectious uveitis.

Stercoral colitis is a colonic inflammation caused by fecal impaction. It is now more commonly discussed in the literature due to its clinical significance, which has gained recognition in recent years. Delayed diagnosis may result in complications such as sepsis and perforation, which have a high mortality rate.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are noncoding RNA molecules with a heterogeneous structure consisting of 200 or more nucleotides. Because these noncoding RNAs are transcribed by RNA polymerase II, they have properties similar to messenger RNA (mRNA). Contrary to popular belief, the term "ncRNA" originated before the discovery of microRNAs.

Background And Purpose: As treatment increasingly shifts from hospital settings to home environments, the burden on caregivers of chronic kidney disease patients has the potential to increase further. It is essential to assess the experience and burdens of caregivers of children with chronic kidney disease to identify caregivers' needs and provide targeted interventions when necessary. Hence, this study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of the Pediatric Renal Caregiver Burden Scale (PR-CBS).

Background: Tooth discoloration is a common concern in antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) using various photosensitizers (PS). Toluidine Blue (TB), Methylene Blue (MB), Phthalocyanine (Pc), and 2-mercaptopyridine-substituted zinc phthalocyanine (TM-ZnPc) are among those studied, but their relative impacts on tooth discoloration remain unclear.

Aim: This study aimed to compare the effects of TB, MB, Pc, and TM-ZnPc in aPDT on tooth discoloration, utilizing a controlled experimental setup.

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of different irrigation techniques including standard needle irrigation (SNI), passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI), EndoActivator (EA), XP-Endo Finisher (XPF), photon-induced photoacoustic streaming (PIPS), and shock wave enhanced emission photo-acoustic streaming (SWEEPS) systems on the penetration of irrigation solutions into dentinal tubules in teeth with calcium hydroxide (CH) applied and oval-shaped canals by confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM). Ninety mandibular incisor teeth with oval-shaped canals were included in this study. After the preparation of teeth using Resiproc Blue R25 (VDW, Munich, Germany) canals were filled with a paste based on CH.

  • The study looks at primary FSGS (pFSGS) in Turkey and compares it to trends in other countries, noting that pFSGS cases are rising in the USA but not in Europe or Asia.
  • Researchers used data from Turkish patients with confirmed pFSGS, finding that many are men around 40 years old, with most experiencing nephrotic syndrome as the main symptom.
  • Key findings show that many patients have specific kidney issues, with differences between males and females in blood pressure and kidney function, while overall cases of pFSGS remain stable in Turkey.

Article Synopsis
  • Scientists studied how aging affects inflammation in the intestines of mice by looking at different types of cells.
  • They discovered that older intestinal stem cells change in a way that promotes inflammation, and this change can be passed on through cell cultures.
  • The researchers also found that a specific signaling pathway (STAT1) plays a key role in how these inflammation-related genes are activated.

In this study, a new bodipy/pillar[5]arene functionalized magnetic MS-Sp-P[5]-bodipy microcapsule sensor was prepared based on the use of environmentally friendly for the selective and sensitive detection of Cu(II) and Hg(II) ions in aqueous media. SEM results used in the characterization process of the materials synthesized at each stage confirmed the structural and morphological changes in the pore structure, while other characterization results (FT-IR and XRD) elucidated the role of pillar[5]arene compound and bodipy dye in the synthesis of magnetic microcapsule sensors. The colloidal solution of MS-Sp-P[5]-bodipy (water/ethanol)) showed two fluorescence bands centered at 402 and 540 nm.
