Recovery strategies for end-of-life (EoL) and end-of-use (EoU) products, such as reuse, remanufacturing, and recycling, present opportunities to enhance profitability and lower emissions while fostering new business prospects. However, significant uncertainties and stochasticity affect the quantity and quality of returned waste tires, costs associated with used tires and the retreading process, and the selling prices driven by second-hand market dynamics. This paper investigates the economic and environmental performance of a closed-loop supply chain (CLSC) for waste tire retreading and recycling considering the impact of these uncertainties using a Monte Carlo simulation-based methodology.

Management of persistent exudative retinal detachment: exploring etiology and surgical outcomes.

Background: This report aims to present the causes, clinical features, and surgical outcomes of persistent exudative retinal detachment (ERD) in a single tertiary referral center experience.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 48 patients who underwent vitreoretinal intervention for persistent ERD between 2017 and 2024. The study assessed patient demographics, underlying causes of ERD, the success rate of surgical interventions, and postoperative visual outcomes.

Role of slice thickness quantification in the 3D reconstruction of FIB tomography data of nanoporous materials.

In focused ion beam (FIB) tomography, a combination of FIB with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) is used for collecting a series of planar images of the microstructure of nanoporous materials. These planar images serve as the basis for reconstructing the three-dimensional microstructure through segmentation algorithms. However, the assumption of a constant distance between consecutively imaged sections is generally invalid due to random variations in the FIB milling process.

Stoma prolapse is one of the most common late complications following stoma construction. Although prolapses can be managed conservatively, they often require surgical revision. This study aimed to describe a revision method called applied with local anesthesia to treat stoma prolapse.

An investigation of slaughter weight and muscle type effects on carcass fatty acid profiles and meat textural characteristics of young Holstein Friesian bulls.

Study objectives included the assessment of carcass fatty acid composition and meat texture characteristics of younger Holstein Friesian bulls. Three experimental groups were formed based on the weights of the 23 young bulls at slaughter: lighter, medium, and heavier. Samples were taken from the Gluteus medius (GM) and Longissimus thoracis muscles 24 h after slaughter.

Ovarian cancer awareness of women in Turkey: A cross-sectional study.

In this study, we proposed to investigate the response of an electrochemical-based immunosensor via nanoliposomes carrying the SARS-CoV-2 Spike-S1 protein. In this regard, we prepared RNA encapsulated nanoliposome functionalized with a specific SARS-CoV-2 Spike-S1 protein as a SARS-CoV-2 model. Then, this new nanoliposome mimicking SARS-CoV-2 was used as the bio-recognizing agent of an immunosensor developed to detect the SARS-CoV-2 within the scope of the study.

Effects of flooring types on teat end bacteria counts, milk quality, hygiene and behaviour of dairy cows housed in tie-stall closed barn.

This study aimed to investigate environmental mastitis causing bacteria counts in the teat end, somatic cell counts (SCC) of milk samples, cleanliness scores and behavior of cows kept on concrete and rubber mat floorings. For this purpose, 19 Holstein-Friesian dairy cows were allocated into concrete and rubber mat groups. Swab samples were taken from the teat ends to determine the bacterial counts causing environmental mastitis.

This study aimed to examine the effects of logotherapy-based, nurse-guided meaning attribution conversations (MACs) on traumatic stress symptoms, post-traumatic growth, spiritual well-being, and life meaning attribution in gynecological cancer patients. This single-blind, randomized controlled trial consisted of face-to-face interviews with 68 women with gynecological cancer who received chemotherapy at Karadeniz Technical University Health Application And Research Center Farabi Hospital in 2019.
