Objectives: To investigate the relationship between language functions and cognitive and functional outcome and to evaluate the effects of a conventional language rehabilitation programme on aphasic adult patients in the post-acute stage of traumatic brain injury (TBI).
Design: Non-concurrent prospective study. Patients were assessed pre-treatment and post-treatment with standardized assessment tools.
This study evaluated the immuned response of the hepatitis A vaccine in children with cancer who were receiving chemotherapy. Twenty-eight patients with lymphomas or solid tumors and who had negative serology for hepatitis A were enrolled. The median age was 4.

Two hundred thirty-four male patients were included in the study. BMD of lumbar spine, femoral neck, proximal radius-ulna (PRU) and distal radius-ulna (DRU) sites were measured by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and grip strength by using a hand dynamometer.

Osteoarticular involvement is the most frequent complication of brucellosis, in which the diagnosis of brucellar spondylodiscitis is often difficult since the clinical presentation may be obscured by many other conditions. Herein, we reported an uncommon case of spondylodiscitis due to brucella in an elderly male who had diabetes mellitus and degenerative spinal disease as underlying conditions.

The Extended Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status (EOMEIS-2) and Parental Education Scale (PAS) were used to collect data. Results showed that children of authoritative parents scored significantly higher on identity foreclosure than those of neglectful parents.

Methods: A total of 48 female patients with fibromyalgia and 38 age-matched healthy controls were enrolled in the study. All the subjects were asked to complete the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) for sexual status and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) for psychiatric assessment.
Osteoporosis is less common in obese individuals with increased bone mineral density (BMD) and plasma leptin concentrations. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between leptin levels and BMD in postmenopausal women. The study consisted of 90 postmenopausal women with a mean age of 53.

Herein we report an uncommon association of FMF with HLA-B27 positive AS as an occasional coincidence in a patient who had been diagnosed as having JIA 23 years previously.

Methods: A total of 348 patients enrolled in the study answered the AMS and IIEF questionnaires. Hormonal analysis, including total testosterone, free testosterone (FT), estradiol (E2), and dehydroepiandrosterone-sulphate (DHEA-S) measurement, were performed.
Objective: To evaluate the role of endogenous sex steroids on bone mineral density (BMD) in healthy Turkish men.
Methods: Serum total testosterone (TT), free testosterone (FT), dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate and estradiol levels were assayed in 174 healthy men of 240 volunteers, aged 22-76 years. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry was used to measure the BMD (g/cm(2)) of lumbar spine, femoral neck and non-dominant proximal and distal radius-ulna sites.

Metastatic sites other than the lungs, lymph nodes, and liver are unusual for Wilms tumor (WT). Intra-scrotal metastasis is very rare. We report a 3-year-old boy with stage IIA WT, who experienced paratesticular metastasis 2 months after surgery for an abdominal recurrence.

Objectives: We aimed to compare the symptoms and signs of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD) with and without a history of diurnal teeth clenching.
Patients And Methods: The study was designed prospectively and included 34 patients with a diagnosis of bilateral temporomandibular joint pain and/or dysfunction. A "Patient Questionnaire Form" and "Patient Assessment Form" generated by the Diagnosis and Treatment Unit of Temporomandibular Disorders, Istanbul Medical Faculty, Istanbul University, were used in the evaluation of the patients.
Seventy-six of 108 random men aged 50 years or over were evaluated for erectile dysfunction with interviews of patients using the International Index of Erectile Function Form and minimal evaluation. Serum hormone concentrations were measured. Bone mineral density was measured using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects the 900 MHz electromagnetic irradiation emitted by these devices on the induction of histopathologic changes in skin and the effect of melatonin (Mel) on any of these changes. Thirty male Wistar-Albino rats were used in the study.

Design: A prospective ultrasonographic study of 35 wrists with electrophysiologically confirmed carpal tunnel syndrome and of 40 normal wrists. Receiver-operating-characteristics curves for the ultrasonographic measurements of median nerve were plotted to identify the most optimal cutoff values.
Possible effects of long term exposure (6 months) to sodium fluoride (NaF) through drinking water on the morphology and biochemistry of myocardial tissue in second generation adult male rats were investigated. Wistar strain female and male rats were reared until the second generation of rats obtained, during which they were given 1, 10, 50 and 100 mg/L NaF in drinking water. Of the second generation, 28 male rats were divided into four groups and had the same treatment.

Dynamics of mast cells in rat cervical lymph nodes were examined using conventional histological techniques after injection of Salmonella paratyphi B-H antigen. There was no significant change in the number of mast cells at sixth hour and on the first day of stimulation compared with the controls. The number of mast cells was increased in all lymph node compartments on the second day of stimulation, which continued in the following 3 days.
