Astroglial excitatory amino acid transporter 2 (EAAT2, GLT-1, and SLC1A2) regulates the duration and extent of neuronal excitation by removing glutamate from the synaptic cleft. Hence, an impairment in EAAT2 function could lead to an imbalanced brain network excitability. Here, we investigated the functional alterations of neuronal and astroglial networks associated with the loss of function in the astroglia predominant eaat2a gene in zebrafish.

The assessment of immune infiltrate in invasive breast carcinomas (IBCs), most commonly referred to as tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), is gaining importance in the current quest for optimal biomarker selection and prediction of prognosis. In this study, the impact of intensity of TILs and expressions of cytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated protein 4 (CTLA-4), programmed cell death-1 (PD-1), and lymphocyte activation gene 3 (LAG-3) in a group of breast carcinomas with regards to the prognosis and conventional pathologic parameters was scrutinized. For this purpose, 238 patients with IBCs containing different proportions of TILs were included in the study.

Methods: We retrospectively investigated 90 patients who received consecutive endoscopic endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy with mucosa preservation by an ophthalmologist (Group 1, n=45) and an otorhinolaryngologist (Group 2, n=45) between October 2017 and October 2019. Patients who were admitted with epiphora complaints and diagnosed with primary acquired nasolacrimal duct obstruction through lacrimal irrigation test and aged >18 years with at least 6 months of follow-up were included in the study.

Background: YouTube (YouTube, LLC, San Bruno, CA, USA) is an easily accessible and increasingly popular source of information on health-related issues. This study evaluated the scientific content and quality of English-language echocardiography videos posted to this Internet platform.
Methods: For this study, 583 videos were identified and evaluated following a YouTube search using the keyword 'echocardiography' in July 2020.
Background: There are limited data on the long-term outcomes of COVID-19 from different parts of the world.
Aims: To determine risk factors of 90-day mortality in critically ill patients in Turkish intensive care units (ICUs), with respiratory failure.
Study Design: Retrospective, observational cohort.

Background And Purpose: Anosmia or hyposmia, often accompanied by changes in taste, is recognized as a common symptom that can assist in the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The pathogenesis of olfactory dysfunction in COVID-19 is not yet fully understood. MR imaging represents a useful anatomic imaging method for the evaluation of olfactory dysfunction associated with varying etiologies, including viral infection, trauma, and neurodegenerative processes.

It is frequently diagnosed in the advanced stage and is resistant to conventional chemotherapeutics. Due to the unique nature and rarity, we evaluated the epidemiological, clinicopathological, and survival data of PSC patients treated at our centre.

Cortisol and cortisone are common markers for stress and thus preferentially analyzed in matrices that allow non-invasive sampling such as saliva. Though the major drawback of immunoassays is lack of specificity due to cross reactivities, they are still most commonly used for quantification of steroid hormones. To overcome such problems, sensitive methods based on liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry are becoming more and more accepted as the golden standard for steroid bioanalysis as they achieve accurate quantification at trace levels for multiple analytes in the same run.

This study aimed to compare the effects of administering betamethasone at a 12- versus 24-hour interval on perinatal outcomes.
Study Design: This retrospective study included 423 early preterm births from 26 to 33 weeks of gestation.
Objective: Metastatic involvement of the stomach is a rare event. Our aim in this study was to document the clinicopathological findings in patients with gastric metastases and find out if there are any potentially significant features to be used in the differential diagnosis.
Material And Method: Our cohort consisted of 17 histologically verified gastric metastasis cases.
Very little research has looked at how autistic people experience childbirth and the first few months of parenthood. We interviewed 21 autistic and 25 non-autistic women 2-3 months after their baby was born, to find out how they experienced giving birth and being a parent. Some autistic participants found sensory aspects of giving birth difficult, such as noise and being touched.

This paper proposes a novel and compact monopole microstrip antenna design with a three-dimensional (3D) printed curved substrate for biomedical applications. A curved substrate was formed by inserting a semi-cylinder structure in the middle of the planar substrate consisting of polylactic acid. The antenna was fed with a microstrip line, and a partial ground plane was formed at the bottom side of the substrate.

As the aerospace industry has grown rapidly over the years, aviators and astronauts have been exposed to some abnormal physiological changes arising from the dynamics of the aerospace environment. The vestibular system, encoding linear and angular movements of the head, is one of the main affected systems in which those abnormal changes can occur during flight. Despite the intricate and solid organization, vestibular units are such delicate structures that they can easily be deceived by aerial dynamics and gravity changes.

This study aimed at defining the potential impact of IL-1β in the post-remission phase of AML patients receiving immunotherapy for relapse prevention in an international phase IV trial of 84 patients (ClinicalTrials.gov; NCT01347996).

Microorganisms have evolved diverse strategies to move within highly viscous environments, using deformable, propulsion-generating appendages such as cilia and flagella to drive helical or undulatory motion. In single-celled algae, these appendages can be arranged in different ways around an approximately 10 m long cell body, and coordinated in distinct temporal patterns.
