Objectives: To prospectively assess, using polysomnography (PSG), the evolution in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in infants with Robin Sequence (RS) during their first year of life and to evaluate the role of PSG in OSA treatment.
Methods: Prospective and longitudinal study conducted in 2 tertiary hospitals (2018-2021). Data from 2 PSG (PSG1 0-3 months of life, PSG2 6-10 months of life) performed in RS infants in different sleep positions/conditions (without treatment: supine [SP]; with treatment: lateral [LP], prone [PP], respiratory support) were analyzed.
An easy and efficient approach for the synthesis of highly regioselective functionalized dihydronaphthalen-1(2)-one family of α-tetralones from functionalized tetralone precursors which derived from Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) adducts as starting substrates has been developed. The target dihydronaphthalen-1(2)-ones are obtained through the oxidation of tetrahydronaphthalenes (THN) using DDQ as the oxidizing agent, conducted in aqueous acetic acid at reflux conditions. The yields obtained ranged from 90 to 98%.

Using a density matrix formalism, we retrieve the field-dependent nonlinear mobility and show the possibility of intra-pulse gain. We further demonstrate that the dynamics of master equations can be captured in an analytical formula for the field-dependent charge carrier mobility, for two-level systems.

It is a progeroid syndrome predisposing patients to accelerated aging and to increased susceptibility to respiratory infections. Here, we studied the immune status of CS patients to determine potential biomarkers associated with pathological aging.

Oximetry-capnography is another simple and widely used tool that can provide information on the presence of desaturations and alveolar hypoventilation. However, its reliability is debated.

Here, we investigate the optical properties of anisotropic excitons in GeS encapsulated by h-BN using different approaches that combine polarization- and temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) measurements, calculations, and effective mass approximation (EMA). Using the Bethe-Salpeter Equation (BSE) method, we found that the optical absorption spectra in GeS are significantly affected by the Coulomb interaction included in the BSE method, which shows the importance of excitonic effects besides it exhibits a significant dependence on the direction of polarization, revealing the anisotropic nature of bulk GeS.

Methods: Twenty-three older adults (mean age = 78 ± 7 years; males: n = 7, females: n = 16) attending a day care center and diagnosed with cognitive impairment were randomly assigned to a 16-week dance intervention or an aerobic exercise intervention (60 min/week). Cognitive function [Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE)], neuropsychiatric symptoms [Geriatric Depression Scale-15 (GDS-15), Neuro-Psychiatric Inventory-R (NPI-R)], and physical function [Timed Up and Go (TUG), Activity Daily Living (ADL)] were assessed at baseline and at the end of the intervention.
A 48-year-old woman with a history of primary hypothyroidism, presented with compressive symptoms secondary to a rapid enlargement of a preexisting goiter. She had no clinical signs of hypocalcemia. Biological tests revealed hypoparathyroidism.

The emergence of antibiotics-resistant bacteria has been a serious concern for medical professionals over the last decade. Therefore, developing new and effective antimicrobials with modified or different modes of action is a continuing imperative. In this context, our study focuses on evaluating the antimicrobial activity of different chemically synthesized flavonoids (FLAV) to guide the chemical synthesis of effective antimicrobial molecules.

THz spectroscopy is of high interest for investigations in high bandwidth and low noise nanoelectronics or solar energy harvesting nanomaterials. In contrast to simple scaling of estimated static polarizability, suggested in the literature, an appropriate transformation of the spectral response into mobility can be achieved in principle forward and backward due to the presence of dephasing, as we show for the exemplary system of CdSe nanoplatelets.

Intestine is the first organ facing nutrient ingestion and has to adapt its metabolism with these dietary changes. HNF-4γ, a transcription factor member of the nuclear receptor superfamily and mainly expressed in intestine, has been suggested to be involved in susceptibility to T2D.

We show that the exciton diffusion coefficient and mobility in laterally finite 2D systems like CdSe nanoplatelets can be tuned via the lateral size and aspect ratio. The coupling to acoustic and optical phonons can be altered via the lateral size and aspect ratio of the platelets.

Our results show that the trion binding energy can be tuned from 36 meV to 18 meV with the lateral size and decreasing aspect ratio, while the oscillator strength ratio of trions to excitons decreases. In contrast to conventional quantum dots, the trion oscillator strength in a nanoplatelet at low temperature is smaller than that of the exciton.

Excitonic effects play an important role on the optoelectronic behavior of atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) crystals of the WS transition metal dichalcogenide. In this paper, neutral and charged exciton behaviors in monolayer WS are handled within effective-mass approximation for which the critical parameters are ensured from our ab initio calculations. Firstly, we reveal an exciton series with a novel energy dependence on the orbital angular momentum.

Recent changes in transplantation practices, including the use of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) and/or reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) regimen may have favorably impacted the epidemiology of invasive fungal infections (IFI) after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Yet, the impact of removing fluconazole prophylaxis after RIC PBSC allotransplant is ill known.
