Article Synopsis
  • A 62-year-old man with diabetes was hospitalized due to symptoms like numbness in his legs and widespread blistering on his skin.
  • Diagnostic tests revealed a condition called mononeuritis multiplex and significant eosinophil presence, leading to the diagnosis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis alongside allergic bullous lesions.
  • Biopsies from his kidneys, muscles, and skin showed evidence of vasculitis and high eosinophilic infiltration, while immunohistological studies indicated cell death involving eosinophils, referred to as eosinophil ETosis.

The clinical course of follicular lymphoma (FL) is thought to be influenced by the infiltrating immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. Focusing on the distribution patterns of T cells may be a promising approach to estimate the prognosis of FL, especially histological transformation. This study was a retrospectively cohort study in the relationship between the pathological distribution pattern of T cells in the tumor microenvironment and clinical course of FL.

Article Synopsis
  • A new AI system, called MSP AI-G, has been developed to assist pathologists in diagnosing gastric biopsies more efficiently and accurately across various medical institutions.
  • This system uses a technique known as multistage semantic segmentation, which mimics how pathologists view tissue samples under a microscope, leading to a higher diagnostic accuracy of 91.0% compared to 89.8% for traditional AI methods.
  • MSP AI-G has demonstrated strong performance in diverse clinical settings, and it reduces the need for additional reviews by pathologists when initial diagnoses differ from AI predictions, streamlining the diagnostic process.

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is associated with various types of human malignancies and with programmed death ligand (PD-L) 1 expression in neoplastic cells. However, in EBV-associated malignant lymphomas and lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs), there is limited information regarding PD-L1 expression profiles among different histologic types and patterns of EBV latency. First, we investigated PD-L1 and EBV latent gene expression using conventional immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization in 42 EBV-associated malignant lymphomas and LPDs.
