Introduction This quality improvement (QI) initiative aimed to improve the clinical documentation of daily progress notes in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) by applying a standardized documentation template and conducting regular cycles of audit and feedback to ensure compliance and improvement. Methods Firstly, to better assess documentation practices impacting patient care, members of the NICU auditing team identified seven key points in medical records. These points were then used for the audit of 30 randomly selected "progress notes" for infants admitted to the NICU between January and June 2022.

Background: Obesity is a chronic disease associated with other associated medical problems, including atherogenic dyslipidemia. Metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) has been shown to reduce long-term cardiovascular risk (CVR). Anti-ApoA-1 antibodies (AAA1) are independently associated with cardiovascular disease, which remains a major cause of death in individuals with obesity.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to evaluate the late effects and quality of life in pediatric survivors of mature B-non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) after receiving treatment.
  • It included 273 patients treated at Children's Cancer Hospital of Egypt, with assessments for various toxicities and quality of life conducted over at least five years.
  • Results showed notable pulmonary dysfunction in 58.6% of patients, some cognitive impairments, and overall satisfactory quality of life scores, but with significant issues in the physical domain for certain groups, specifically linked to pulmonary dysfunction and older age at diagnosis.

Article Synopsis
  • Vein of Galen malformations are congenital issues treated mainly through endovascular embolization, but challenges arise in patients with venous blockages that can lead to complications.
  • A study reviewed pediatric cases where an intracranial venous sinus stent was used to enhance blood flow following transvenous embolization, improving outcomes.
  • Results showed that all three patients experienced successful treatment with normal venous drainage post-procedure, although one had a temporary nerve issue unrelated to the stent.

Article Synopsis
  • Children under 3 years old, like the 18-month-old girl in this report, can suffer from complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), causing significant functional and psychological issues.
  • The girl experienced severe pain in her right lower limb without any prior trauma, and conventional treatments were ineffective until she underwent a lumbar sympathetic block (LSB) procedure.
  • The LSB was successful, leading to substantial pain relief, improved sleep, weight gain, and the start of rehabilitation after the procedure, indicating its potential effectiveness in young patients.

Meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) presents significant challenges in neonatal care, particularly in the context of respiratory distress. This report explores the efficacy of administering surfactant through a less invasive surfactant administration (LISA) technique in a full-term neonate with MAS. Our case highlights the potential of this method in reducing the need for mechanical ventilation, drawing parallels with its established benefits in preterm neonates with respiratory distress syndrome.

Context: The electronic, discrete water solvation, and vibrational properties of zwitterionic sulfanilic acid were thoroughly investigated using periodic and non-periodic DFT approaches. The periodic-DFT results, obtained by employing the PBE-TS functional (Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof (PBE) functional with the Tkatchenko and Scheffler (TS) dispersion correction) were first presented in order to analyze the band structures of the studied crystal. An attentive reading of the predicted band structures has shown three lowest gap energies calculated at 4.

Background: Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is characterized by immune response dysregulations. Cytotoxic T lymphocyte-associated antigen-4 (CTLA-4) plays a central role in immune checkpoint pathways and preventing autoimmune diseases by regulating immune tolerance. We aimed to explore the potential association between CTLA-4 gene polymorphisms and ITP as well as study their impact on the response to therapy.

This paper presents a comprehensive approach for optimal charge scheduling and on-board vehicular control of electrified fleets based on synthetic driving cycles. The proposed approach is conducted within a real case-study in Cairo, Egypt, whereto a representative distance-based driving cycle has been synthesized using K-means clustering over a sliding horizon of gathered data-sets. Two multi-objective problems defining optimal charge scheduling and vehicular control have been formulated to achieve minimal energy consumption and operating cost of the fleet .

Background: Regional anaesthesia use is growing worldwide, and there is an increasing emphasis on research in regional anaesthesia to improve patient outcomes. However, priorities for future study remain unclear. We therefore conducted an international research prioritisation exercise, setting the agenda for future investigators and funding bodies.

Aim: The epidemiological survey was carried out to determine the prevalence of eimeriosis in broiler chickens slaughtered depending the season, to determine the different Eimeria species causing the coccidiosis in poultry farms; and to assess the impact of Eimeria parasite on histomorphological structure and oxidative stress parameters of the intestine.

Materials And Methods: The study was conducted from December 2018 to December 2019 in the province of Bejaia, Algeria. The intestines chickens (n = 366) were obtained immediately after slaughter, each cut into different segments (duodenum, jejunum, ileum, and caecum).

is an ectoparasitic mite and is considered one of the most important causes of honey bee population loss. In the last years, substances of botanical origin have emerged as natural alternatives to diminish the mite population levels. Propolis is a natural product and is used by honey bees for multiple tasks, including protection from pathogens and parasites, and varroacidal activity of propolis extracts has been shown.

Objective: Until now, giant intracranial aneurysms (GIAs) have in many cases been a vascular disease that was difficult or impossible to treat, not least due to the lack of availability of a large-format stent. In this multicentre study, we report on the first five clinical applications of the Accero-Rex-Stents (Acandis, Pforzheim, Germany) in the successful treatment of fusiform cerebral giant aneurysms.

Material And Methods: The Accero-Rex-Stents are self-expanding, braided, fully radiopaque Nitinol stents designed for aneurysm treatment.

Propolis was collected from honeybee hives in three geographically distinct Algerian climates and extracts were characterized for composition and bioactivity. Bees were identified as native subspecies using an in-silico DraI mtDNA COI-COII test. Over 20 compounds were identified in extracts by LC-MS.

The present study was carried out to valorize the (OFI) by-products by extracting and identifying their biochemical compounds and evaluating their antioxidant potential by in vitro activities (DPPH radical and FRAP), as well as their capacity to stabilize margarine oxidation (rancimat test). In addition, their in vitro anticoccidial effect on the destruction of oocysts isolated from naturally infected chickens was also targeted. Microwaves and response surface methodology tools were used to extract the maximum amount of phenolic compounds (42.

Background: Spinal dural arteriovenous fistula (SDAVF) is a rare disorder with an unknown etiology. Often, the clinical presentation and imaging findings are misleading, causing this condition to be mistaken for other entities, such as demyelinating or degenerative spinal lesions.

Observations: The authors report a challenging case of SDAVF in which the patient's symptoms were initially thought to be attributable to a herniated disc based on his imaging studies at another institution.

Colloid cysts are benign intracranial lesions, typically located in the anterior portion of the third ventricle near the interventricular foramina of Monro. The cysts usually consist of an epithelial lining filled with viscous gelatinous material of various components. Colloid cysts are generally asymptomatic, but once symptomatic, they can present in a variety of ways, including headaches, vomiting, visual and memory problems, and vertigo.

The objective of the present study is to identify the biochemical compounds extracted from OFI flowers using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry and to evaluate their in vitro antioxidant activities and anticoccidial effects on the destruction of oocysts isolated from naturally infected chickens. A domestic microwave was used with a refrigerant to condense the vapors generated during the extraction. The flavonoid and phenolic compound contents of the OFI flowers were determined according to standard methods.
