Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is a rare but aggressive and potentially lethal hyperinflammatory syndrome characterized by pathologic immune activation and excessive production of proinflammatory cytokines leading to tissue damage and multisystem organ failure. There is an urgent need for the discovery of novel targets and development of therapeutic strategies to treat this rare but deadly syndrome. Protein Arginine Methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5) mediates T cell-based inflammatory responses, making it a potential actionable target for the treatment of HLH.

The effect of sodium chloride (NaCl) on cadmium (Cd) tolerance, uptake, translocation, and compartmentation was investigated in 3 barley genotypes. Seedlings were cultivated hydroponically in the absence of NaCl and Cd (control), in the presence of 50 mM NaCl alone, in the presence of 10 µM Cd alone, and in the combined addition of NaCl (50 mM) and Cd (10 µM). Plants were cultivated during one month under 16 h light period at a minimal light intensity of 250 µmol m s, a temperature of 25 ± 3 °C, and 70-80% of relative humidity.

Aims: Studying the molecules and signalling pathways regulating glioma invasiveness is a major challenge because these processes determine malignancy, progression, relapse and prognosis. We took advantage of our previous study focused on genes that were critical in tumour invasion to further study here an unknown sequence, referred to as KIAA0510, the chromosomal location of which was 1q25, described as a 5596-bp long mRNA and that we found to be significantly overexpressed in pilocytic astrocytomas compared with glioblastomas.
Methods And Results: Using in silico analysis as well as Polymerase chain reaction techniques, we decipher the full genomic characterization of the KIAA0510 sequence and demonstrate that KIAA0510 constitutes the 3'-untranslated region of tenascin-R gene.
Pilocytic astrocytomas are WHO grade I gliomas that occur predominantly in childhood. They share features of both astroglial and oligodendroglial lineages. These tumours affect preferentially the cerebellum (benign clinical course) and the optic pathway, especially the hypothalamo-chiasmatic region (poor prognosis).
