Viruses rely on host cellular machinery for replication. After entering the nucleus, the HIV genome accumulates in nuclear niches where it undergoes reverse transcription and integrates into neighboring chromatin, promoting high transcription rates and new virus progeny. Despite anti-retroviral treatment, viral genomes can persist in these nuclear niches and reactivate if treatment is interrupted, likely contributing to the formation of viral reservoirs.

In vivo HIV-1 nuclear condensates safeguard against cGAS and license reverse transcription.

Entry of viral capsids into the nucleus induces the formation of biomolecular condensates called HIV-1 membraneless organelles (HIV-1-MLOs). Several questions remain about their persistence, in vivo formation, composition, and function. Our study reveals that HIV-1-MLOs persisted for several weeks in infected cells, and their abundance correlated with viral infectivity.

We have developed electrochemical bandage (e-bandage) prototypes that generate the reactive oxygen species hypochlorous acid (HOCl) or hydrogen peroxide (HO) for potential use to treat biofilm-infected wounds in humans. We have shown that both e-bandage-generated HOCl and HO kill biofilms in vitro and in infected wounds on mice, with the former being more active in vitro. The HO-generating e-bandage, more so than the HOCl-generating e-bandage, was associated with improved healing of infected wounds.

The assessment of care burden and influencing factors on family caregivers for cancer patients.

Background: The family caregivers as primary caregivers play a crucial role regarding the care of cancer patients. As defined in the literature, the care burden encompasses the negative objective and subjective outcomes including psychological and physical health problems, economic and social issues, deterioration of family relationships and feelings of loss of control that arise from caregiving responsibilities.

Aims: This study aims to assess the care burden and to evaluate the associated factors among family caregivers of cancer patients receiving treatment at a state hospital in Türkiye.

Introduction: Urticaria is a dermatological disorder that manifests as raised erythematous lesions with pruritis and resolves with no changes to the appearance of the skin. In Ayurveda, this condition is similar to "Sheetapitta," which involves an imbalance of Doshas (regulatory functional factors of the body) and is treated through purification techniques like Panchakarma. Deep learning (DL) has gained prominence in healthcare for its ability to facilitate early diagnosis, treatment identification with associated prognosis, and varying patient outcome predictions. However, because of highly variable medical practices and unsystematic data collection approaches, DL can unfortunately exacerbate biases and distort estimates. For example, the presence of sampling bias poses a significant challenge to the efficacy and generalizability of any statistical model.

A comparative analysis of meta-heuristic optimization algorithms for feature selection on ML-based classification of heart-related diseases.

This study aims to use a machine learning (ML)-based enhanced diagnosis and survival model to predict heart disease and survival in heart failure by combining the cuckoo search (CS), flower pollination algorithm (FPA), whale optimization algorithm (WOA), and Harris hawks optimization (HHO) algorithms, which are meta-heuristic feature selection algorithms. To achieve this, experiments are conducted on the Cleveland heart disease dataset and the heart failure dataset collected from the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology published at UCI. CS, FPA, WOA, and HHO algorithms for feature selection are applied for different population sizes and are realized based on the best fitness values.
