Carcinoid tumors are rare neuroendocrine tumors that have been reported in a wide range of organs but most commonly involve the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, ileum, appendix, and colon), and rarely ovary and thymus. We present a case of a 56-year-old Nigerian man with a cecal carcinoid tumor that was surgically removed. A 56-year-old Nigerian man, presented to our hospital with a year history of right-sided lower abdominal fullness, audible bowel sounds, occasional diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and epigastric pain.

Introduction: Pleomorphic adenoma or mixed tumour is a benign salivary gland tumour, presenting usually in the parotid or submandibular glands. This is a case of idiopathic pulmonary calcification and ossification in a 70 year old with long-standing diabetes and hypertension. Thirteen years prior to her demise, she was first noticed to have multiple calcific deposits in her lungs on a chest X-ray film. She had no risk factors for soft tissue calcification and ossification.

Effects of oral administration of energy drinks on blood chemistry, tissue histology and brain acetylcholine in rabbits.

Background: Energy drinks are canned or bottled carbonated beverages that contain large amounts of caffeine and sugar with additional ingredients, such as B-Vitamins, amino acids and herbal stimulants. Previous reports have shown that consumption of large amounts of these energy drinks may result in adverse health consequences.

Objective: The present study is to ascertain if oral administration of energy drinks, such as "power horse" and "red bull", may affect blood chemistry, tissue histology and acetyl choline levels in rabbits.

The role of aqueous extract of pineapple fruit parts on the healing of acute crush tendon injury.

Background: The Pineapple plant contains the enzyme bromelain which has been acclaimed to reduce pain and swellings following acute muscle injuries as well as carotenoids and polyphenols which are powerful antioxidants. It is yet to be determined if these constituents are distributed throughout the plant and what effect they have on the healing of acute tendon injuries.

Objective: This study therefore investigated the effects of the aqueous extract of different parts of the pineapple plant on tenoblast proliferation and the tendon Malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the early stage of healing in a crush injury to the achilles tendon of Sprague-Dawley rats.
