Objective: This study was aimed at evaluating the relationship between FGM and HPV in a locality with high prevalence of FGM.
Methods: Papanicolaou test, DNA hybridization using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and flow-through hybridization was done to determine the genotypic variants of the HPV.
Carcinoid tumors are rare neuroendocrine tumors that have been reported in a wide range of organs but most commonly involve the gastrointestinal tract (stomach, ileum, appendix, and colon), and rarely ovary and thymus. Previous reports have shown that consumption of large amounts of these energy drinks may result in adverse health consequences.
Objective: The present study is to ascertain if oral administration of energy drinks, such as "power horse" and "red bull", may affect blood chemistry, tissue histology and acetyl choline levels in rabbits.
Background: The Pineapple plant contains the enzyme bromelain which has been acclaimed to reduce pain and swellings following acute muscle injuries as well as carotenoids and polyphenols which are powerful antioxidants. It is yet to be determined if these constituents are distributed throughout the plant and what effect they have on the healing of acute tendon injuries.
Objective: This study therefore investigated the effects of the aqueous extract of different parts of the pineapple plant on tenoblast proliferation and the tendon Malondialdehyde (MDA) level in the early stage of healing in a crush injury to the achilles tendon of Sprague-Dawley rats.
